Azerbaijan: Six acts still in the national selection race for Eurovision 2024

Azerbaijan's broadcaster, Icitmai, has shortlisted six acts in the national selection race for Eurovision 2024.
Out of fifteen acts through auditions Icitmai has come down to six artists as potentional Eurovision 2024 representatives. Currently the six artist are assessed by Focus Groups a process that wil lead to the selection of the country's next ESC hopeful.
Namely the acts that remain in the race are:
- Emy Lia
- Mila Miles, İlkin Dövlətov, Etibar Əsədli
- Aisel
- Sabina Quluzadə
- Fahree
- Qorqud
Among the candidates we see the comeback of Aisel who had represented the nation back in 2018 failing however to qualify to the finals with 'X My Heart'.
The broadcast however, hasn't shed any light on which songs have been shortlisted. This year Icitmai received a total of 214 songs out fo which 88 come from local songwriters.
Azerbaijan in Eurovision
The Land of fire debuted in the contest in 2008 and since then they have been present in every single edition of it, counting a totla of 13 participation. In 2011 The duo Eldar & Nikki gave the country its one and only victory with their entry Running scared, leading the Eurovision event next year in the capital city of Baku.
While Efendi's Eurovision 2020 journey was interrupted due to the coronavirus outbreak and never had the chance to perform 'Cleopatra' in Rotterdam, iTV decide to stick with the same act this year, giving her the chance to complete her mission in ESC 2021.Efendi flew to Rotterdam where she competed in the first semi final performing 'Mata Hari' and after qualifying to the Grand final she finished 20th with 65 points.
For 2022 Nadir Rustemli was internally selected to fly the flag in Turin where he performed the song 'Fade to black', which came 16th in the Grand final receiving a total of 106 points ( 103 from the jury vote and 3 from televoting).
This year, TuralTuranX represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Tell Me More”. They finished 14th in the first semi-final with 4 points, leaving Azerbaijan out of the final for the second time in history and the first time since 2018.
