Eurovision 2022: Acts to film their postcard appearance on home soil

  • The appearance of the acts in the Eurovision 2022 postacards will be filmed on home soil like in last year's edition. 

    Alike previous  Eurovision editions when the comepting  artists traveled to the host country in order to film their apprearance in their country's postcard, this year the filming will be opretated according to last year's format, with the acts remaining in their home countries. 

    Last year due to the covid-19 pandemic and to avoid additional travelling the artists the artists were visually presented in a tiny house in different locations around the Netherlands. With special digital techiques implemented the 39 acts didn't need to be present during the filming of the postcard. The filming took place in front of green screens that were used to display their image in the tiny houses.

    It seems that for the 2022 edition it will be the same story. Social media posts already show competing acts for Turin filming their appearance in front of a green screen away from Italy. Thus, with the covid-19 still around and in order to avoid movements that are not essential the organisers sem to have opted for last years recipe for making the Eurovision postcards. 

    In accordance to this year's slogan "Sound of beauty", RAI is filming postcards in several locations across Italy showcasing the country's natural beauty and most impressive lanscapes. So far the locations in which postcard filming has taken place are: 

    • Terni & the Marmore falls in Umbria
    • Perugia
    • Merano
    • Cortina d’Ampezzo
    • Naples
    • Venice
    • Civita di Bagnoregio (Lazio)
    • Ravenna

     

    What are the postcards

    Postcards are the small clips that are shown between the songs during the contest and helps us to know the performer of each country and showcase the local beauties of the host nation, but also to give the organizers the necessary time to prepare the stage for the next contestant.

    The 66th edition of the contest is set to take place on May 10,12 and 14 at the Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
