Eurovision 2022 - Live in Turin: Rehearsals Day Five (May 4)

  • The Eurovision 2022 rehearsals progress to the fifth day in Pala Olimpico, Turin with the first set of countries from Semi-final 1 making their second rehearsals. 

    The first set of 14 acts of the 2022 Eurovision First Semi-final will take the stage today for their second rehearsal. Namely, Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Moldova, Portugal, Croatia, Denmark, Austria and Greece are making their second round of rehearsals.

    The rehearsal week is divided into two primary phases: From today and up to Tuesday 3/5 the first rehearsals of all competing countries from the two semi finals take place while from Wednesday 4/5 till Saturday 7/5 the second rehearsals of all delegates in both semifinals will be held along with the first and second rehearsals of the Big-5 countries and the host nation. 

    This is how today's rehearsals will unfold in Pala Olimpico in CEST time:

    • 10:00 – 10:20 Albania: Ronela Hajati - “Sekret”
    • 10:25 – 10:45 Latvia: Citi Zeni“Eat Your Salad”
    • 10:50 – 11:10 Lithuania: Monika Liu“Sentimentai”
    • 11:15 – 11:35 Switzerland: Marius Bear“Boys Do Cry”
    • 11:40 – 12:00 Slovenia: LPS“Disko”

    Lunch Break

    • 13:05 – 13:25 Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra - “Stefania”
    • 13:30– 13:50 Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project - “Intention”
    • 13:55 – 14:15 Netherlands: S10 - “De diepte”

    1.Albania: Ronela Hajati - “Sekret”

    Rehearsals today open with Albania as Ronela takes the stage for the 2nd rehearsal of 'Sekret'. Change of outfit for the Albanian delegate who in this rehearsal appears wearing a sparkly silver body outfit combined with a white open robe over it. Her backing dancers have put on balck long skirts paired with black leather stipped tops. 

    The choreography remain the same as the one in the first rehearsals while the use of smoke in parts of her performance while she seemed to have some issue with her microphone.

    2.Latvia: Citi Zeni“Eat Your Salad”

     Next up is Latvia for their second rehearrsal teaching us how to 'Eat our Salad' through one more energetic performance. The six member group , Citzi Zeni,  consisted of Jānis Pētersons, Dagnis Roziņš, Reinis Višķeris, Krišjānis Ozols, Roberts Memmēns and Toms Kagainis  treat us with another colorful performance in ongoing motion all over the stage, camera close ups and backdrops graphics that make the whole staging have an impact on the audience. And after all that movement ons tage what a better way to get some energy back eating a salad!

    3.Lithuania: Monika Liu“Sentimentai”

    Monika is back on the stage for her second rehearsal of 'Sentimentai'. The Lithuanian hopeful appears this time wearing her national final dress while the camera makes a closer approach to her from different angles. A wide use of the lights along with her nice vocals create an effective impact on the audience.

    4.Switzerland: Marius Bear“Boys Do Cry”

    Following his first rehearsal Marius Bear is back on stage for the second rehearsal of 'Boy Do Cry'. Once again Marius showcases his distinctive voice with captivating vocals. The song unfold in a rather dark scenery where lights are mostly use to spotlight the artist himself and his face experessions. Really good performance for Marius.

    5.Slovenia: LPS“Disko”

    Time to light up the Disco ball and fly back to the 70's and 80's times with LPS who are having their second rehearsal on stage of their entyr 'Disko' . The youngest participants of the ESC 2022 class are into the retro disco vibes of the past sending the message that Disko all time classic! It only take a huge disco ball and a package of lights to take us back in the disco mood. A very pleasant performance by LPS. 

    Aksed by Eurofans Radio in their press conference about their relation with Eurovision they stated big Eurovision fans all the way, with 'Rise Like A Phoenix' by Conchita and ABBA a few of their favorite past ESC acts.

    6.Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra - “Stefania”

    Kalush Orchestra are back on stage for their second rehearsal of 'Stefania'. Traditional outfits, extended lights in the Ukrainian colors alonng with a shadow effect on the led floor surrounded by an orange-sunset like color feature the Ukrainian second rehearsal. Common ground of both rehearsal the energy and the hype on stage showcasing their cultural diversity. Good job for Ukraine despite all the obstacles they had to face to reach Turin !! Ukraine mothers should be proud for this guys!

    7.Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project - “Intention”

    Intelligent Music Project from Bulgaria rehearsed their song Intention for second rehearsal

    Time to ride the rock wave with Bulgaria's Intelligent Music Porject on stage to rehearse their song 'Intention'. The members of the gorup take ta stage dressed all in black, while black and white colors feature their staging with the red colored lights picking up from the middle of the song. The beginning of the song find the members split up in two sides, with the guitrist placed on the right side while the drummer is located on the lest side. 

    The camere is in full motion taking close shots of the band members, from up above to the led floor catching the graphics on camera, really dynamic visuals that reflect the energy the rock band is conveying as they delivei their song. In the last run fire strips of fire are added in giving a orange sunset color to the whole set.

    8.Netherlands: S10 - “De diepte”

    S10

    S10 is up next for her second rehearsal of 'De Diepte'. The Dutch hopeful is bringing her country's language on the Eurovision stage this year through her alternative alternative pop/folk ballad. 

    S10 delivers her song in a very unique way vocally which captivates the audience. Black and white colors dominate in turns the set while during the second verse the sun on the background turnns from balck to white color with a  yellow colored water element displayed on the lower levels of it. Tha camera makes a lot of close up shots on S10 herself throughout the song and only in the last part of his we have wider shots of the stage with red and whitle lights coming out of the sun in the backdrop. 

    S10 delivers amazing like she knows to do so conveying an atmospherical, melancholic and chill out mood throughout the song. Nice work from S10! 

     

     

    9.Moldova: Zdob si Zdub and Advahov Brothers - “Trenuletul”

    Time for one more train ride with Moldova's 'Trenuletul' performned by Zdob si Zdub and Advahov Brothers. This performance is a mix of color, rhythm and ongoing energy by the act. The performance starts with a close up shot to the two guitarist while warms yellow colors dominate initially the set with the purple color picking up as the song progresses. More blue, purple and red colors come out of the sun on the background while their is an extensive use of graphics on the LED floor. 

    The band members from the beginning to the end of the song are in ongoing motion conveying their energy to the audience and turn the whole performance into a party on stage. We don't thing anyone will be sitting until the end of the song. 

     

    10.Croatia: Mia Dimsic - “Guilty Pleasure”

    Mia is back for her second rehearsal of 'Guilty Pleasure". A very sentimental performance again as she is accompanied on stage by two male and one female backing dancer. The songs starts with Mia shadowed in a dark blue light and twinkling light on the backdrop that look like stars. Close up shots on Mia and some interaction with her dancers follows as the light turn to white taing her out of the blue darkness.  

    Looks towards her dancers and some more interaction with them takes place as the sun on  background and the led floor are dominated by the the blue color. The last part of the performance feature a close up shooting on Mia and the scenery goes into a combination of blue and pink color. A very sentimental and romantic approach from Mia who deliver her song flawlessly. 

     

     

    11.Denmark: REDDI - “The Show”

    REDDI return for the second rehearsal of their song 'The Show' and are giving their female tone of rock music! The performance starts with the camera focusing for a while on the face of the leading singer who is playing the piano.

    As soon as the tempo of the song changes the leading seinger meet up with the rest of the group. A colorful staging unfolds as the beat of the song elevate the energy of performance. The LED floor switches to different colors while the name of the group is displayed on it. The leading singer interacts with the rest of the the member conveying to the audience rhrythmical vibes and a good overall impression. 

     

     

     12.Austria: LUM!X feat. Pia Maria - “Halo”

    LUM!X & Pia Maria representing Austrai are back on the stage for one more energetic performance of 'Halo'. The set up is the same as the first one. A big size circle shaped neon light accouterment surrounds the two acts displaying colors of the Austrain flag and showcasing who is on the decks ruling for the next 3 minutes. 

    LUMIX is on the decks while Pia Maria sings with  prerecorded vocals featuring her performances and she's having fun dancing along to the rhythm of the song. Black and resd are the two basic colors of the setting with the stage turning blue during the bridge of the song. Really uplifting vibes from both of them who seem to be bringing their personal 'halo' on stage. 

     

    13.Greece: Amanda Tenfjord - “Die Together”

    Amanda takes the stage for the first time and gives another stunning performance of her song 'Die Together'. Dark blue lighting with flashed of white lights on the high notes bring a big impact as they convey the dramatic tone of the song and the need to extrovert all that pain from the break-up the lytics are talking about.

    Amanda is captivating with amazing vocals which don't need any further effects to highlight her performance. A outstanding performance for Amanda via her vocals and simplicity. 

     

     

    14.Portugal: MARO - “saudade, saudade”

    Last for today but not least Maro from Portugal bring her 'Saudade saudade' on stage for the second rehears. A music journey on calm waters could describe this performance. 

    Maro delivers her song joined by four backing singers on stage. The setting his dark lighted in order to take us into the atmospheric and calmness of the song's melody. The circular formation of the backing singers brings up pictures of a mystic spiritual ceremony taking place on stage.

    Blue and purple colors feature the stage throughout the song while camre close-ups to Maro take place during the songs. While the camera stays in motion the melody just sails you in its calmness and relaxing vibes.
