Eurovision 2022 - Live in Turin: Rehearsals Day Three (May 2)

Eurovision 2022 rehearsals progress to the third day at Pala Olimpico with the first group of 9 countries from Semi-final 2 taking the stage for their first rehearsal.
The first nine acts of the 2022 Eurovision Second Semi-final will take the stage today. Namely, Finland, Israel, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malta, San Marino, Australia and Cyprus are making their first rehearsals.
The rehearsal week is divided into two primary phases: From today and up to Tuesday 4/5 the first rehearsals of all competing countries into the two semi finals take place while from Wednesday 5/5 till Saturday 7/5 the second rehearsals of all delegates in both semi finals are held along with the first rehearsals of the Big-5 countries and the host nation.
This is how today's rehearsals will unwind in Pala Olimpico in CEST time:
- 10:00 – 10:30 Finland: The Rasmus -“Jezebel”
- 10:40 – 11:10 Israel: Michael Ben David - “I.M”
- 11:20 – 11:50 Serbia: Konstrakta - “In corpore sano”
- 12:00 – 12:30 Azerbaijan: Nadir Rustamli - “Fade to Black”

- 14:20 – 14:50 Malta: Emma Muscat - “I Am What I Am”

1.Finland: The Rasmus -“Jezebel”

The Finnish bad that has sold 5 million albums worldwide, and about 350,000 albums in Finland alone, The Rasmus, open the 3rd day of reherasals in Pala Olimpico. The Rasmus won the Finnish national final , UMK 2022, and made their way to Turin with their song 'Jezebel'.
The Finnish hopefuls appear on stage wearing yellow rainproof clothes while the whole scenre is dominated by the yellow color. Big black floating baloons feature the whole set. The band members deliver the whole performance with clear confidence which is exepcted for a rock band of great exeperiences on big stages. The Rasmus are certainly not in the shadows and light up their peformance.

2.Israel: Michael Ben David - “I.M”

Up next on stage is Israel's Michael Ben David ready to make his first rehearsal of "I'M". Michael achieved to reach the Eurovision stage after winning the X-factor Israel final, the show that was used this year to select the country's representative.
The Israeli ESC 2022 hopeful takes the stage dressed in white alogn with four backing dancers three of them also dressed in while whilst one is dressed in black. While the song itself is a bop Michael Ben David certainly knows how to showcase his performing skills all the way. When it comes to Michael it's all about the performance : an energetic catchy performance with an outstanding choreography by the dancers that elevate the dynamism of the staging. Switiching red and white colors feature the set throughout the song.

3.Serbia: Konstrakta - “In corpore sano”

Next to make her first rehearsal is the Serbian Delegate, Konstrakta. Konstrakta reached the Eurovision stage in Turin by winning the Serbian national selection of Pesma za Evroviziju ’22 (Song for Eurovision '22) with her song 'In Corpore Sano'.
Konstrakta's stage set up is similar to the one we saw in the national final performance. She is sititng on a clasic style chair, while an ongoing wach of hands and five backing dancers using towels fill in the choreography. A total different style of performance from Serbia this year, which really marks their own special way this year's contest.

4.Azerbaijan: Nadir Rustamli - “Fade to Black”

Next for his first rehearsal is Nadir Rustamli from Azerbaijan. Nadir was internally selected by ITV to represent the Land of Fire with the song 'Fade to Black'. In 2021 In 2021 , he participated in the 'Voice of Azerbaijan' which he won having as mentor the ESC 2011 winner Eldar Gasimov.
Now it's time for him to showcase his talent on the bigger stage of Eurovision and he's doing a fine job for it. Nadir delivers his song on steps similar to those of a stadium. He moves around through the song accompanied by a male dancer while the camera covers the his performance from different angles. Nadir delivers his power ballad with motion and vocals that will captivate the audience on their TV screens.

5.Georgia: Circus Mircus - “Lock Me In”

After the lunch break Circus Mircus take the stage for the first rehearsal of 'Lock Me In'. The Georgian group was established in 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia and has grown popular within the country showcasing a unique sonically sound. The group was formed by by three local circus academy dropouts. The Georgian Public broadaster internally selected the group to represent the country in Turin.
Circus Mircus take the stage and deliver their catchy song in a colorful and joyful scenery that combines a little bit of a circus set up and neon graphics. A rather pscychedelic show by the Gerogian band who anyway are known for their performances out of the regular musical frameworks.

6.Malta: Emma Muscat - “I Am What I Am”

Next up on stage comes Emma Muscat from Malta for the rehearsal of her entry 'I am what I am'. Emma won the Maltese national selection with a different song but eventually chose 'I am what i am' to perform in Turin.
Emma takes the stage joined by four backing dancers, two male and two female ones. The Maltese hopeful is wearing a discoball featured short dress while her dancer are wearing golden trousers and skirts respectively. The stage is dominated mostly by a intense golden color and a big piano is placed on stage which comes as no surprise as Emmma is specialized in playing the piano.
Emma delivers her song coveying uplifting and optimistic vibes to the audience which will certainly folllow the beat along with the song.

7.San Marino: Achille Lauro - “Stripper”

Time for San Marino's first rehearsal as Achille Lauro takes the stage to perform for the first time his song 'Stripper' and this stripper is riding the rock wave in many way! Achille reached the Eurovision stage in Turin having won the Sammarinese national selection 'Una Voce per San Marino'.
Wearing black see-through body suit paired with cowboy style boots and hat, he knows how to integrate all his energy on stage by riding a luxurious bully taking his performance out of the box. Cages for the drummers and strips of fire give even more dynamism to the whole set up. Achille is taking hold of those horns and letting all sexual labels and limits out of the picutre. A really impressive staging for San Marino.

8.Australia: Sheldon Riley - “Not The Same”

Second last for today is Sheldon Riley from Australia. During his participation in The Voice Australia he stated that his biggest dream would be to perform on the Eurovision stage. Dreams can come true and Sheldon is in Turin after winning back in February the Australian national final 'Eurovision: Australia Decides' with his song 'Not the same'.
Sheldon takes the stage wearing an impressive white clothing consisting of a short cropped coat on top combined with a trimmed feathered frilly dress that features a long wedding type tail. In addition he wears his silver sparkling see-through mask and silver jewellery on his hands that we've seen in his previous performances.
Vocally one more impressive performance by Sheldon who has his way of passing to the audience his message in a captivating way.

9.Cyprus: Andromache - “Ela”

Last but not least closing today's rehearsal is Andromach from Cyrpus with her song 'Ela'. Andromache became widely known in 2015, when she participated to the talent show “The Voice 2” and made the difference with her distinctive tone of voice.
Now Andromache is inviting us to Aphrodite's underwater world as huge sea-shell prop features her set with graphics projected on it. Elegant like the Greek godess of beauty she is accompanied by two female dancers which provide more energy to the staging. She delivers her mid-tempo entry that carries the audience along with its ethnic rythmical beat.
