Eurovision 2022: Peace in the spotlight of the 66th edition of the contest in Turin

  • Italy's Eurovision 2022 host broadcaster, RAI, has confirmed that the theme of peace will be in the spotlight of the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. 

    The Italian organisers have decided to put in the center of this year's contest the theme of peace. This was announced by Eurovision executive producers Simona Martorelli, director of international relations for Rai, and Claudio Fasulo, deputy director of Rai1, at a press conference in the Piedmontese capital with the director of the Rai production center in Turin, Guido Rossi, responsible for the organizational activities of the event which will take place outside the building. 

    "The themes of peace - remarked Fasulo - will be at the center of this edition of Eurovision. We want to bring important contents to the event, which speak of peace and are appropriate for this delicate moment ".

     

    The Ukrainian delegates intend to be present in Turin

    In addition RAI confimred that among the 40 delegations to be present in Turin, Ukraine will be flying to Turin in May. Martorelli said on the subject: 

    "The Ukrainian delegation  has confirmed its presence and has so far met all deadlines incredibly. It is also gearing up to make the back-up video of the performance, which is asked of all delegations in case of problems and the delegation or part of the delegation could not show up in Turin. They are having some difficulties but they are trying to make it happen, not in Kiev but in another city more on the border. " 

     

    A total of 40 nations will take part in the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. With the Big-5 countries (Italy, Germany, Spain, UK and France) qualifying directly to the Grand final on May 14, the rest 35 countries will pass through two semi finals set for 10 and 12 May.  All three live shows of Eurovision 2022 will be held in  Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
