Georgia: Circus Mircus release their Eurovision 2022 entry

  • The Georgian Eurovision 2022 hopefuls, Circus Mircus , have released their entry for Turin titled 'Lock Me In'

    Circus Mircus were internally selected by the Georgian broadcaster,GPB, to represent the nation at the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. 

    Today, one day earlier than scheduled, Circus Mircus have dropped their song for Turin. Along with the song the official music video was set to be released, but due to the  war in Ukraine they Due to the war in Ukraine, they felt that it is not the right time to release our happy and colorful music video. So they decided to release only audio, while using the black background instead of the official music video footage, to express their solidarity towards the Ukrainian people and they end they conclude their release by saying:

    "We hope to post our music video in the near future, when these terrible events are over and our societies start getting back to normal."

    The group will be competing in the first half of the second semi-final show on May 12, 2022. Emilia Sandkvist, a member of the Sacha Jean Baptiste group, will be responsible for staging Circus Mircus’ performance in Turin.

     

    A fews word for Circus Mircus

    The Georgian group was established in 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia and has grown popular within the country showcasing a unique sonically sound. The group was formed by by three local circus academy dropouts. This is how the group defines itself: 

    Sonically unique, Circus Mircus encompasses myriad of genres, intricately reflecting the inner world and the life experience of the each band member. The cornerstone of their philosophy lies in the complete neglect of musical frameworks. 

    The group has already released a total of 10 music videos.

     

    Georgia in Eurovision

    Georgia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest first time in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi and her song Visionary dream . Since then it has competed 11 times missing out only the 2009 edition of the contest, when they chose to withdraw. Its best results were scored in Oslo with Sofia Nizharadze and her song Shine (2010) and Dusseldorf with Eldrine and the entry One More Day (2011) when both achieved a 9th placing in the Grand Final.

    In 2018 the Ethno Jazz Band Iriao were internally selected to represent the country in Lisbon with their entry For you. For a second year in a row Georgia failed to qualify to the grand final. In 2019 in Tel Aviv the nation was Oto Nemsadze with his song "Keep on Going" which didn't make it either to the final. 

    In 2020, won the Georgian Idol and was set  to represent Georgia at the 65th Eurovision Song Contestin Rotterdam with his song  “Take me as i am.  Unfortunately, the contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak depriving Kipiani of the chance to perform on Rotterdam Ahoy’s stage.

    In 2021 Tornike was selected internally for Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam where he competed in the second semi final with the ballad song "You" , which sadly didn't qualify to the final.
