Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2022 first semi-final results

The Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2022 kicked off this evening with the first semi final of Söngvakeppnin 2022.
Iceland is selecting their Eurovision 2022 through the show of Söngvakeppnin 2022 after a year's break with the internal selection of Dadi Freyr. The show was hosted by Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir. All entries had to be performed in Icelandic in the semi-finals.
From the rescord number of 160 submissions, a special committee shorlisted 10 entries to compete in the national selection, which consists of two semifinals and one grand final show. Five acts compete in each semi final heat with the public voting selecting two qualifiers from each semi final. In addition the jury will choose one more entry to advance to the final show from the non-qualifiers of the semifinals.
In this evening's first semi-final show:
Amarosis – “Don’t you know”
Stefán Óli – “Ljósið” (The light)/ “All I know”
Haffi Haff – “Gía” / “Volcano”
Stefanía Svavarsdóttir – “Hjartað mitt” (My heart) / “Heart of mine”
Sigga, Beta & Elín – “Með hækkandi sól” (With the rising sun)
The two acts that were chosen by the public to proress to the final show are:
- Stefán Óli – “Ljósið” (The light)/ “All I know”
- Sigga, Beta & Elín – “Með hækkandi sól” (With the rising sun)
The Icelandic selection continues next Saturday, March 5 with the second semi final show to determine two more qualifiers.
