Montenegro: Vladana Vučinić releases her entry for Eurovision 2022 'Breathe'

Montenegro's Eurovision 2022 representative, Vladana Vučinić, has released her entry for Turin, titled 'Breathe'.
In the dawn of 2022 the Montenegerin national broadcaster, RTCG, internally selected Vladana to represent the nation at Eurovision 2022, among 24 submissions that were reviewed by a jury with criteria regaring the song, the lyrics and the promotional potenita of the entry. Vladana went on revealing later that ther entry is titled 'Breathe'.
Today during a special show on RTCG Vladana premiered her Eurovision 2022 song. In addition the show featured Andrea Koevska (North Macedonian Eurovision 2022 act), Luka Vojvodić (Serbia and Montenegro ESC 2005 and Montenegro Eurovision 2016), Nina Žižić (Montenegro ESC 2013), Knez (Montenegro ESC 2015) and Tamara Vujačić (Montenegro ESC 2019).
Vladana's song has been co-written and arranged by Darko Dimitrov. This is the first time Dimitrov is collaborating with Montenegro for Eurovision but has been behind several Eurovision entries in the past, among which “Ninanajna” (North Macedonia 2006), “Proud” (North Macedonia 2019) and “Loco Loco” (Serbia 2021).
Vladana herself has stated about her song:
"The recent tragedy that happened in my family broke me ... The song by some indescribable miracle just" flew "out of me and I can freely say that it is nothing but my heart broken into small pieces, turned into music and words".
And added:
"What I know for sure is that this song will live in the hearts of people, and I hope that it will have a significant effect on them around the world, in these difficult times for all of us."
The music video of the song, which has been directed by Gojko Berkuljan was also released this evening:
Vladana will be competing in the second half of the 2nd semi final on May 12, 2022 in Turin.
A few words for Vladana
Vladana Vucinic was born in Podgorica, Montenegro (then in Yugoslavia) and showed an interest in music at an early age. She inherited her musical interest from her mother who is North Macedonian. Vladana has finished primary and secondary music school “Vasa Pavic” in Podgorica, department of piano and opera. Vladana took part in many competitions and won many local and national awards in chamber music and solo performances.
In 2003 she made her television debut in the “Intro-Karaoke show”, where she performed the song “The power of love” by Celine Dion on the commercial channel IN TV, where she won the first place which provided her to get into the final. Her debut single “Ostaces mi vjena ljubav” (“You’ll stay my love forever”) was performed on “Budva fest 2003” in Budva, Montenegro. In 2004 she released her single “Noc” (“Night”) which became a hit in Montenegro. A year after, she participed on the “Montevizija (Montenegrin preselection Eurovision contest) and had a duet with Dado Djurovic at the “Suncane Skale” festival in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.
In 2006, she participated on the eurovision preselection contest “Evropesma-Europjesma” in Belgrade, Serbia with her friend Bojana Nenezic singing “Željna” which finished 15th.
Vladana collaborated with director Nikola Vukčević on music videos, and the last, animated video "Sinner City" from the same titled debut album , premiered at the end of 2010 on the regional MTV station, making her the first soloist from Montenegro on the most famous music program, and broke the ice on MTVAdria.
Montengro in Eurovision
Montenegro made its debut in the contest in 2007 as an independed country. It particpated until 2010 when it decided to withdraw due to financial reasons. In 2012 the country made its Eurovision comeback.
In 2014 Sergej Ćetković and his song Moj svijet represented the country and achieved for the first time to qualify to the Grand final, ending in 19th place. One year later Knez with his entry Adio scored the country’s best result by finishing 13th in the Grand final. In 2017 Slavko Kalezić, finished 16th in the semi final with the song Space.
In 2019 D Mol were crowned the winners of Montevizija 2019 , the country’s national final, and went on represeting Montenegro in Tel Aviv with their entry “Heaven”. Unfortunately for a fourth consecutive year the country didn’t make it to the final. In 2021 the balkan nation did not take part in the contest.
