  • The Dutch broadcaster has confirmed Jeangu Macrooy as the country's spokesperson for Eurovision 2022.

Jeangu Macrooywill be the person revealing the Dutch jury's votes during the voting countdown that will take place in the Grand final live show on May 14, 2022 in Turin.

The final outcome of the Eurovision Song Contest  is determined 50% by the votes of the national juries which are cast during the jury show, one day before the live grand final show and 50% by the public vote the night of the grand final. The presentation of the jury votes is held by the national spokespersons the night of the Grand final.

Jeangu is the third act from last year's Eurovision who will be assigned to announce the national jury's votes after, Greece's Stefania and Lithuania's  Vaidotas Valiukevičius.

A few words for Jeangu Macrooy

Jeangu Macrooy is born in 1993 in Paramaribo, Suriname. His musical journey begins when he receives a guitar from his parents at the age of thirteen and forms a musical duo with his twin brother Xillan. But Jeangu wants more, so in 2014 he boarded the plane to the Netherlands. There he meets producer / composer Perquisite, with whom he enters into a musical collaboration and who signs him with his label Unexpected Records. From that moment Jeangu steps through the Dutch music world with seven-mile boots. He becomes Serious Talent at 3FM, nominated several times for an Edison, a welcome guest at De Wereld Draait Door and participates in The Passion.

With two successful albums to his name and several sold-out club tours, Jeangu is increasingly revealing his potential and taking the next international step on the road ahead with his Eurovision participation.

In 2020 Jeangu was internally selected to represent the country in Rotterdam with his song "Grow". Unfortunately the contest was cancelled for the first time in its history and Jeangu never had the chance to perform on home soil. Nevertheless, AVROTROS, continued with Jeangu in the 2021 edition where he performed the song "Birth of a new age" finishing 23rd in the final.
