Tonight: Iceland decides for Eurovision 2022 with the Söngvakeppnin 2022 final

• The Icelandic national selection for Eurovision 2022 reaches its end this evening with final show of Söngvakeppnin 2022.

  Iceland are selecting their Eurovision 2022 through the show of Söngvakeppnin 2022 after a year's break with the internall selection of Dadi Freyr. A total of 160 songs were submitted  during the submssion period,  which marked a new record number for the national selection and could easily be justified by last year's successful participation in Rotterdam. 

  A special committee shorlisted 10 entries that are competing in the national selection, which will consist of two semifinals and one grand final show. Five acts compete in each semi final heat with the public voting to determine two qualifiers from each semi final. In addition the jury chose one more entry to advance to the final show from the non-qualifiers of the semifinals. 

  Thus this evening a total of five acts will compete in the final: 

   

  • Sigga, Beta & Elín – Með hækkandi sól
  • Stefán Óli – Ljósið
  • Katla – Þaðan af
  • Reykjavikurdaetur – Turn This Around
  • Amarosis – “Don’t you know”

   

  Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir will have the honor to host the final show. 

  The results wil be determined in two rounds of voting. In the first round a jury and public voting will select the two acts that advance in a Superfinal round. During the Superfinal round the public will determine the final winner and next Icelandic Eurovision hopeful. The International juries is made up by the following members:

  • Tusse (Sweden) – Sweden's Eurovision 2021 act
  • Sóley Stefánsdóttir (Iceland) – Musician  
  • Barry Van Corneval (The Netherlands) – Eurovision in Concert Organiser
  • Stig Karlsen (Norway) – Norwegian Eurovision Head of Delegation 
  • Daði Freyr (Iceland) – Icelandic Eurovision 2020 & 2021 act 
  • Heidi Välkkilä (Finland) –YLE Manager of Marketing
