Denmark: Reiley wins Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with 'Breaking my heart' and books his spot in Eurovision 2023

• The Danish national final is over and Denmark has it's new Eurovision hopeful as Reiley won the competition singing 'Breaking my heart' and is off to Liverpool. 

  Denmark's Reiley has secured his spot in the class of Eurovision 2023 after winning Dansk Melodi grand prix 2023 which took place this evening in  Næstved.

  The show was hosted by Tina Müller and Heino Hansen. Tina is no stranger to the audience as she has hosted the past two editions of the contest while Heino's is first time to serve as the show's presenter. On The show also featured last year's winners Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra. 

  A total of 8 competing acts were in the running for representing Denmark at Eurovision 2023:

  2. EYJAA – I Was Gonna Marry Him
  3. Micky Skeel – Glansbillede (Picture Perfect)
  4. maia maia – Beautiful Bullshit
  5. Nicklas Sonne – Freedom
  6. Mariyah LeBerg – Human
  7. Søren Torpegaard Lund – Lige her (Right here)
  8. Reiley – Breaking My Heart

   

  The result

  The result of the final was determined through two rounds of voting.In the first round, the top 3 entries based on the televoting verdict advanced to a  superfinal round. The three acts that qualified to the Superfinal round were: 

  • Micky Skeel - "Glansbillede"
  • Nicklas Sonne -"Freedom"
  • Reiley - "Breaking My Heart"

  In the superfinal, the three Superfinalists delivered once again their songs while televoting and jury voting with a 50% share each declared winner Reiley with the song 'Breaking my heart'. Here is how the superfinal results turned out:

  A few words for Reiley

  Pop music performer who rose to fame for his colorful aesthetic and catchy vocals. He is the son of an engineer father and a bioanalyst mother. He has two sisters. His music went viral on TikTok where his songs are used in thousands of user-generated videos. This led to him signing a record deal with Atlantic Records.

  He was first introduced to music at the age of six when he began taking piano lessons. His passion for performance came when he was cast in a local production of Grease. His debut single was released in March of 2021. He co-directed the song's accompanying music video. He performed a cover of Smino and Monte Booker's "Kolors" in 2021.
