  • Eurovision 2023 stage has been unveiled by King Charles III and the Queen Consort this evening in M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.

    The excitement for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool is building up, and it got even more exciting when King Charles and Queen Consort arrived in the city to reveal the stage at the M&S Arena. The general manager of BBC, along with the head of the Eurovision production team, welcomed the royal couple and showed them around the arena.

     

    As they walked through the arena, Charles and Camilla were amazed by the grandeur and the scale of the stage. The massive LED screens and the intricate lighting system caught their attention, and they were impressed by the amount of work that went into creating such an amazing set for the contest.

    The royal couple also got the chance to speak to some of the Eurovision presenters, including Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina, Emmy-winning actress Hannah Waddingham, and BBC Radio 2 commentators Rylan Clark and Scott Mills. They discussed the preparations for the show and expressed their admiration for the talent that would be on display during the contest.

    Charles and Camilla also had a chance to meet with UK 2023 contestant Mae Muller and Eurovision 2023 music director Kojo Samuel. They talked about the importance of music and the arts in bringing people together and fostering international relationships.

    Later that afternoon, Charles and Camilla visited the Liverpool Central Library to mark the twinning of the Library with Ukraine's first public Library, the Odesa Regional Scientific Library. They were given a warm welcome by the staff and the visitors, and they were impressed by the architecture and the history of the building.

     

    A few words about M&S Bank Arena

    Liverpool Arena, known for sponsorship reasons as the M&S Bank Arena and previously the Echo Arena, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the city centre of Liverpool, England. The venue hosts live music, comedy performances and sporting events, and forms part of Liverpool event campus ACC Liverpool – an interconnected arena, exhibition and convention centre. The venue serves a regional population of 2.5 million people and over 6.6 million across England's North West.

    The venue opened its doors on 12 January 2008 as the Echo Arena Liverpool, with the official opening ceremony for the Capital of Culture. The ceremony launched a year-long celebration and signified the culmination of a decade of regeneration in the city. The show, named 'Liverpool the Musical', featured 700 performers and took 15,000 hours to organise. Since opening, the arena has attracted more than 7 million visitors to over 3,800 events, as well as generating £1.6 billion in economic benefit for the Liverpool City Region.
