Greece: 106 submissions for Eurovision 2023

The Greek broadcaster, ERT, has revealed that a total of 106 songs have been submitted for the Greek Eurovision 2023 selection process.
During the midday show “Proian se eidon” on ERT, the host of the show Fotis Sergoulopoulos revealed that 106 songs have been send to ERT within the framework of the selection process for Eurovision 2023.
This number marks a satifying result for ERT's selection committee as it double than the one in 2021 exceeding all expectations. News acts, established ones and acts that had sent last year too a song, ambition to represent Greec at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.Among the artists that are reported to have sent in a music proposal according to OGAE Greece are:
- Panagiotis Tsakalakos
- Cynthia Verazie
- Leon of Athens
- Evangelia
- Klavdia
- Antigoni Buxton
- Melissa Mantzoukis
- Aretha
- Vasilis Kurtis
- Antonia Kaouri
- Jimmy Sion
- Harris Rivera
Following the submission period a special ERT committee will assess all songs in order to shorlitst some of them and move on to the next phase during which the final decision will be taken.
Greece in Eurovision
Greece made its first participation in the contest in 1974 with Marinela. Since then the country has won one time the competition, in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her entry My number one. Since 2004 and up to 2013 the country was one of the most successful countires in the contest, having achieved 9 times a top ten placing. In 2016 it experienced its first non qualifying results since the semi final were introduced, with Argo in Stockholm.
In 2020 Stefania was internally selected to represent Greece in Eurovision 2020 with her song 'Supergi!rl'. Unfortunately the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic depriving the young talented act from her journey to Rotterdam. Nevertheless, ERT continued with Stefania for the 2021 edition in Rotterdam where the young act competed in the second semi final with her song 'Last Dance' and after qualifying to the final achieved to finish in 10th place bringing Greece back in the top 10 for the first time since 2013.
This year Amanda Tenfjord was internally selected to fly the flag in Turin where performing in the first semi final her song 'Die Together' qualified to the Grand final offering another top-10 placing to Greece by finishing 8th on the final overall score with 225 points.
