San Marino: Piqued Jacks to Eurovision 2023 with the song 'Like An Animal'

  • Piqued Jacks won San Marino's national final 'Una Voce per San Marino" and will fly to Liverpool to sing "Like An Animal"at Eurovision 2023.

    After four semi finals and one second chance round, 22 acts managed to pass in the finals. The show took place in the Teatro Titano in the City of San Marino. The show hosted by last year's representative Senhit along with Jonathan Kashanian.

     

     

    The 22 contestants that took the stage this evening were:

    2. Deborah Iurato (Italy) – “Out of Space”
    3. Deshedus (Italy) – “Non basterà” (It won’t be enough)
    4. E.E.F. (Italy) – “Something For You”
    5. EIFFEL 65 (Italy) – “Movie Star”
    6. Ellynora (Italy) – “Mama Told Me”
    7. Iole (Italy) – “Sul tetto del mondo” (“On top Of the world”)
    8. Le Deva (Italy) – “Fiori su marte” (“Flowers on Mars”)
    9. Lorenzo Licitra (Italy) – “Never Give Up”
    10. MAYU (Switzerland) “C’è qualcosa in me che non funziona” (“There is something in me that doesn’t work”)
    11. NeVRuZ (Italy) – “L’alieno” (“The alien”)
    12. Piqued Jacks (Italy) – “Like An Animal”
    13. Thomas (Italy) – “23:23”
    14. Tothem (Italy) – “Sacro e profano” (“Sacred and profane”)
    15. Vina Rose (United Kingdom) – “Oblivious”
    16. XGIOVE (Italy) – “Fuoco e benzina” (“Fire and gasoline”)
    17. Kida (San Marino) – “Stessa pelle” (Same skin)
    18. Simone (San Marino) – “Catching Memories”
    19. Edoardo Brogi (Italy) – “Due punti sull’Equatore” (Two points on the equator)
    20. MATE (Italy) – “Prisma” (“Prism”)
    21. Ronela (Albania) – “Salvaje” (“Wild”)
    22. Roy Paci (Italy) – “Tromba” (“Trumpet”)

    The result was determined entirely by a jury consisting of the following members: 

    • Al Bano – Represented Italy at Eurovision twice
    • Antonio Rospini – Musician and Artistic consultant
    • Charlotte Davis – British TV producer
    • Dino Steward – Managing Director of BMG Italy
    • Steve Lyon – British sound engineer
    • Clarissa Martinelli – Journalist

    According to the jury's votes Piqued Jacks came 1st followed by Le Deva, while XGiove closed the top 3 places.

     

    A few words about Piqued Jacks

    Piqued Jacks are an Italian musical group formed in 2006 in Buggiano and composed by E-King (vocals, piano, synthesizer), Majic-o (guitar), littleladle (bass) and HolyHargot (drums).

    In 2010 and 2011 Piqued Jacks released their first two EPs, then in 2012 they worked with Los Angeles-based producer Brian Lanese on the third, Just a Machine, to be released in January 2013. In March 2014 they work with Matt Noveskey for the singles Upturned Perspectives/No Bazooka. The first LP Climb Like Ivy Does comes out in 2015, and in 2016 the acoustic version, entitled Aerial Roots, comes out. In 2016 ThEd0g was replaced by Damiano Beritelli, who in turn was replaced in 2017 by HolyHargot. In June 2018 the single Wildly Shine was released, pre-produced by Michael Beinhorn. Four months later comes The Living Past, the second LP produced by Dan Weller. In April 2019 Penguinsane is replaced by Majic-o; in 2019 the Piqued Jacks also won the award for the Rock category at the Sanremo Rock festival. In May 2020 they are part of the MTV New Generation music container. In September 2020 the single Safety Distance is released, the first work with Brett Shaw. In March 2021 the album Synchronizer is released, produced by Julian Emery, Brett Shaw and Dan Weller.

    Piqued Jacks will compete at Eurovision 2023 in the first half of the second semi final show on May 11 in Liverpool.
