Germany: 'Das Deutsche Finale' voting system and running order revealed

  • More details on the upcoming German national final for Eurovision 2024 have come to light with the organisers sharing information on the running order and the voting system. 

    NDR, the German broadcaster this year will be selecting their Eurovision 2024 hopeful through the televised national final show 'Das Deutche Finale 2024' set for February 16 in Berlin. 

    A total of 9 competing acts will take the stage and battle for the right to represent Germany at Eurovision 2024 in Malmo, Sweden. 

    The nine contestants will appear on stage according to the following running order: 

    1. NinetyNine – Love on a budget”
    2. Leona – Undream you”
    3. Isaak Guderian – “Always on the run”
    4. GALANT – “Katze”
    5. Floryan – Scars”
    6. Bodine Monet – “Tears like rain”
    7. RYK – “Oh boy”
    8. Marie Reim – “Naiv”
    9. Max Mutzke – “Forever strong”

     

    The result

    The outcome of the national final will be determined by a combination of public and jury voting.  Eight international juries would be taking part in the vote, counting for 50%  with the rest 50% coming from the public. The international juries will comr from the following countries:

    • Austria
    • Croatia
    • Iceland
    • Lithuania
    • Spain
    • Sweden
    • Switzerland
    • United Kingdom

     

    In addition NDR has announced that a panel of special guests will be featuring the show. Namely, former Eurovision participants Mary Roos and Conchita, will be part of the final along with Rea Garvey, Riccardo Simonetti, Florian Silbereisen and Alli Neumann.

     

    Germany in Eurovision

    Germany is one of the  Big-5 countries and qualifies directly to the Eurovision Grand final. The country has participated in every edition of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1956, with one year’s exception back in 1996.  The country has won the competition twice, namely in 1982 and 2010.

    In 2018 Germany placed 4th in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with Michael Schulte‘s  You let me walk alone , which was the nation's best result since their last victory in 2010.  

    In 2022 Malick Harris won the national final and flew the flag in Turin singing 'Rockstars'. Last year national final winners Lord of the Lost represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool with their entry ‘Blood & Glitter‘ which finished in the 26th place.
