Saturday, 15 May 2021

  • With the first week of rehearsals over at Rottedam Ahoy the betting odds for the Eurovision 2021 winner are literally on fire with the ups and downs changing every hour.

All 39 competing countries had the chance over the past week to rehearse on Rotterdam Ahoy's stage twice their entries and make their final touches and imporvements on the staging just before the week of Eurovision live shows starts.

Taking a look back to the odds just before the rehearsals kicked off and comparing it to the current betting odds board, a week after two rehearsals have taken place for each delegate we can see how the rehearsal have had a major impact on the bookies favorites to win the competition.

But no more words lets go an check what the actual current numbers are indicating:

    The top 10

The top 10 betting odds board is on fire with the changes in bookies' predictions taking place every hour or even over minutes. After today's second rehearsal of the Big-5 and the host nation, Italy's Maneskin took the lead in the betting odds taking the place over from France's Barbara Pravi,  who previosuly, after her frist rehearsal had dethroned Destiny from Malta after  she had been leading for several weeks the betting odds. Currently Italy has 22% chances of voctory 2% more than second France. However destiny in the last hours has shown a trend for more bets.

Fourth behind is Iceland with Dadi Freyr going steady for the last hours in this position. What is more remarkable is the Cypriot act, as Elena Tsagrinou, who is considered a dark horse in this race,  has climbed to 5th place surpassing Bulgaria's Victoria which drop one spot at 6th place. A disappoiting drop for Gjon's Tears from Swizerland who saw hos betting performance drop to the 7th position.

In the last three places of the top We see Ukraine, Lithuania and Greeece with steady bets but with mix trends in their betting performance.

    Places 11 to 20

Near the top 10 places are the Russia's Manizha , Tusse from Sweden and Finland's Blind Channel. The rest countries following in the places 14- to 20 might gain a place or two but seem to have no potential in entering the top. And it 's remarkable if you take into account that among them are countries like Norway ( TIX) and San Marino ( Senhit) which saw themselves at some point before the rehearsals high in the bettings odds in the top 10.

Here is how thew betting odds board looks like for the places 11 to 20:

    The overall impression

The fiest week of rehearsals contributed in stabilizing the top 10 countries that stood out with their first two on stage perfromances. The following hours we will see slight changes within the top 10. Moreover, Italy and France seem to be the hot favorites at the moment being already in the grand final as Big-5 countries.

The dress rehearsals to follow along with the two semi final shows are the next factors to have the final impact on the betting odds board. Depending on which countries will make it to the final eventually and how the already top 10 countries will deliver in the following shows are parameters that could play a decisive role on how the betting odds will develope.

For us keep a close look to three more countries that we think that can work as dark horses in the race, these are Iceland and Cyprus especially the second seems to show strong trends for further elevation in the odds.
