Italy: Sanremo Festival 2021 first night's performances and results

  • The first night of Sanremo festival 2021 concluded with the first set of  competing acts taking the stage and the first reults from the demoscopic jury being cast. 

    Sanremo 2021 kicked off the passed evening with its first out of five shows taking place at Teatro Ariston. The show was hosted by the artistic director, Amadeus who along with Fiorello welcomed on stage several stars. 

    The popular Italian actor and singer Matilda de Angelis accompanied Amadeus on stage contributing to the hosting of the show, while the football star  Zlatan Ibrahimović  also appeared as a guest during the show. In addition Achille Lauro performed on stage some of his songs while last year's winner , Diodato, took us back one year reminding us of his victorious performance of "Fai Rumore". The show also featured Loredana Berté which presented her new single along with some of her biggest hits.

    Without doubt the highlight moment of the night was when nationally known from the social media, nurse Alessia Bonari who came to fame during the escalation of the covid-19 pandemic, praised the the unknown heroes of the healthcare system that achieved to keep the country going and combat the health crisis. 

    The results tonight were determined in "The Campioni category"  by a 100% poll- (demoscopic) jury from 300 fans who cast their vote from their home and which was made up based on special  demographic, age and qualitυ criteria. In the "Nuove Proposte" the result was determined by a double vote: 50% of the poll jury and 50% of the televote, with only the top-2 acts qualifying to the final.

     

    The competitive part of the show

    Apart of the side events and stars of the show all eyes fell on the first set of 13 competing acts in the Campioni Category and the four contestants of the Nuove Proposte category. 

     

    The Campioni category

    In the Campioni category 13 acts took the stage with Irama who was set to compete in this first show switched places with Noemi as one person close to him was found covid-19 positive. If his test comes out negative he will perform in the second night.

    The Nuove Proposte Category

    The Nuover Proposte category saw the first four competing acts out of eight take the stage and with two qualifying spots in stake. 

    Gaudiano – "Polvere da sparo"
    Elena Faggi – "Che ne so"
    Avincola – "Goal!"
    Folcast –"Scopriti"

    The two acts that qualified to the final were Gaudiano and Folcast. 

    The Sanremo festival 2021 will continue with its second show tomorrow night during which the second set of 13 competing acts will take the stage.
