Lithuania: The Roop release their ESC 2021 national final entry “Discoteque“

-
The Roop, Lithuania's last year's ESC hopefuls and finalists in Pabandom iš naujo 2021 have released their national final entry "Discoteque".
The Roop won last year Lithuania's national selection with their song "On Fire" and were set to represent the nation in Rotterdam being fans' and bookies favourite. Unfortunately their Eurovision journey never reached its destination as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic
Now The Roop return in this year's national selection and ambition to repeat their victorious participation and regain the right to fly to Rotterdam with their new entry titled "Discoteque". Commenting on their new music proposal for Eurovision 2021 the group says:
"The new song “Discoteque” is not a copy of “On Fire”. That’s what we wanted the least. However, one thing that is in common (apart from band members) is that both sound somewhat unusual. And we love it!"
The Roop will be apearing in Heat 2 of this year's national selection with an energetic performance expected on stage. As they have already shared through their instagram account that dancers Migle and Marijanas, who danced with the group in 2020, will join them for “Discoteque”.

Lithuania in Eurovision
Lithuania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 20 times since its debut in 1994, when Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last, receiving zero points. Lithuania withdrew from the contest, without returning until 1999. LT United’s 6th place in 2006 with the song “We Are the Winners” is Lithuania’s best result in the contest. The country reached the top ten for a second time in 2016, when Donny Montell finished 9th with “I’ve Been Waiting for This Night”.
In 2018 the country was represented by Ieva Zasimaskaite with her emotional ballad song When We’re Old, which finished 12th in the grand final. In 2019 national final winner, Jurij Veklenko defended the Lithuanian colors in Tel Aviv with the song Run With The Lions, but failed to qualify to the final left in the 11th place of the second semi final.
Last year The Rood had won the national final with their song “On fire” but never made it to the Eurovision stage after the Eurovision 2020 cancellation due to the coronavirus outbreak.
