  • EBU's new Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest has dropped some hints on potential changes that could be introduced to the following editions of the Eurovision Song Contest.

During a Q&A session on the official Eurovision Twitter account under #AskMartin, the new executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest Martin Österdahl gave some answers to the fans regarding the future editions of the contest and which possible changes we might see taking place.

Commenting on potential hosting of the show by more than one cities, he was not negative about, but stated that it “would depend on the host broadcaster and whether they could convince the EBU it would be a good idea”. In addition he outlined that the size of the candidate arena is not a key factor for a city hosting the competition.

Further on talking on the current limit of six people on stage, which has been introduced since 1971, he stated that the rules are been reviewed on annual basis and a change on that matter cannot be ruled out. It's not something impossible to take place according to his answer.

In addition , he revealed that organisers do not have any objection in bringing back the spokespersons announcing the 8,10, and 12 points of the jury vote and not only the 12 points that has been going on since 2016.

The changes introduced by EBU come over multi discussions among the members of the Eurovision Reference Group which holds meeting throughout the year in order to discuss and decide on potential changes of the contest's formula.
