Montenegro: RTCG rules out a return in Eurovision 2021

  • Montenegro's national broadcaster, RTCG , has ruled out a comeback in the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.

    Sad news for the Montenegrin Eurovision fans, as the Balkan country has decided that they will be returning to Eurovision in 2021. RTCG has confirmed to ESCToday that they will not be partcipating in Eurovision 2021 marking the nation's second consecutive year away. 

    Therefore Montenegro joins countires like Bosnia, Moncao , Andorra and Luxembourg that will not return to the competition despite their past participations . 

     

    Montengro in Eurovision

    Montenegro made its debut in the contest in 2007 as an independed country. It particpated until 2010 when it decided to withdraw due to financial reasons. In 2012 the country made its Eurovision comeback. In 2014 Sergej Ćetković and his song Moj svijet represented the country and achieved for the first time to qualify to the Grand final, ending in 19th place. One year later Knez with his entry Adio scored the country’s best result by finishing 13th in the Grand final. In 2017 Slavko Kalezić, finished 16th in the semi final with the song  Space. 

    In 2019  D Mol were crowned the winners of Montevizija 2019 , the country’s national final, and went on represeting Montenegro in Tel Aviv with their entry “Heaven”. Unfortunately for a fourth consecutive year the country didn’t make it to the final.
