Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2024 fifth heat results; Grand final line-up completed

  • Sweden's quest for Eurovision 2024 cotinued tonight with the fifth heat of Melodifestivalen 2024, one step away from the Grand final of March 9.  

    Unlike previous years where we had four semifinals and one second chance round, in this year's edition a total of 30 artists will compete in five semifinals with the the first two acts on the scoreboard securing a spot in the Grand final. The thrid and foruth act from each semi final went into a special voting that took place once the fifth heat is completed and  filled in the last two spots of the Grand final. 

    In addition this year's show sees the knowledgeable music and Mello-experts – radio and TV profile Tina Mehrafzoon and Mello-oracle Ronny Larsson featuring the show and treating the audience with some inteteresting commentary. 

    This year's edition is hosted by Carina Berg. This fifth Melfest heat  which took place in Karlstad, unfolded in the following running order:

    The results of the second round according to the age groups came out as following

    • 3-9: Medina
    • 10-15: Medina
    • 16-29: Medina
    • 30-44: Medina
    • 45-59:  Jay Smith
    • 60-74: Annika Wickihalder
    • 75+: Annika Wickihalder
    • Τelevoting: Annika Wickihalder

     

    Second Chance voting round 

    Once the fifth heat's results were competed the second chance round of voting took place with the audience selecting the last two finalists from all those artists that had came 3rd and 4th in the previous 5 heats. The acts running for the last two spots were:

    • Fröken Snusk – “Unga & fria” (Young and free)
    • Klaudy – “För dig” (For you)

    • Albin Tingwall – “Done Getting Over You”
    • Annika Wickihalder - “Light”

    The audience decided to give the last two tickets to the Grand final of March 9 , to Annika Wickihalder and Jay Smith. Here is how the results turned out:

    Thus, following the results of all 5 heats and the second chance voting round the Melodifestivalen 2024 Grand final line-up has been formed. The 12 acts that will be competing next Saturday for the right to represent the host nation in Malmo are:
