Armenia:  Maléna Fox releases her withdrawn Junior Eurovision 2020

  • Maléna Fox who was set to be the Armenian hopeful for Junior Eurovision 2020 has released her withdrawn entry "Why". 

    Although Armemia had initially confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision 2020 earlier in November the national broadcaster, APMTV, announced  that the country will not eventually take part due to the ongoing conflict in Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) and the martial law imposed in the country. 

    The Armenian Head of Delegation revealed then that 13 yo Malena Fox was internally selected to represent the nation back in  July. Now the 13 year-old act has released the song which she was set to perform in Warsaw titled 'Why". 

    Why is an emotianl ballad asking why people tend to hate and indifference while love can heal all the wounds. Behind the music and production is tokio9 and the song  has been penned by Suzanne Khanzadian, David Tserunyan (Armenian Hod) and tokio9.

     

    Armenia in Junior Eurovision 

     

    Armenia participated first time in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. The country has scored remarkable successive results as it has achieved a top 3 placing 7 times . Armenia won the contest back in 2010 with  Vladimir Arzumanyan with his song Mama. Even on their first participation, the country almost won the competition with  Arevik and her song Erazanq which finshed just one point from the top. The worst result came in 2008 with the entry Im Ergi Hnchyune, performed by Monica Manucharova, who finished 8th.

    In 2018 national final winner, L.E.V.O.N, represented the country with his entry L.E.V.O.N which finished 9th in the final that took place at Minsk Arena, Belarus. Last year the landlocked country was represented by Karina Ignatyan and her song 'Colours of your Dream' which finished 9th with 115 points. 

    After 13 editions of consecutive appearances in Junior Eurovision, since 2007 they debuted in the contest, Armenia iwithdrew for the first time this year from the competition.
