Austria: Conchita Wurst releases new single “Bodymorphia”

• The Eurovision 2014 winner, Conchita Wurst, has released the new single “Bodymorphia” delivering once again an empowering message through its narrative. 

  Conchita's victory back in 2014 was certainly one of the contest's most remarkable victories along with all the messages that delivered. Moving in the same path Conchita's music especially after Eurovision,has always something to say, an empowering message, an invitation to break down walls and limits that restrain people's freedom and dignity. 

  Conchita returns with one more strong in messages upbeat track titled “Bodymorphia”. The lyrics spotlight how everybody should feel positive about their body. No matter who they are or what they look like. Because the only person who should have any say in their appearance is the person themselves.

  The pounding disco-style electro-pop track was co-written by Conchita Wurst, aka Tom Neuwirth, and musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer Albin Janoska.

  In a press release, Conchita elaborates on the message behind the lyrics saying:

  “I stopped asking for permission to enjoy my life to the fullest a long time ago, and I don’t need confirmation either, from anyone. If I can give listeners – and not least all the people who will see the ARISE show live in the next two years – a tiny little boost of motivation to live their own lives a little more freely, then the song gets more rolling than I could have wished for,”

  “For my producer Albin Janoska and me, it was a completely new process to write a song according to specific guidelines, where, for example, rhythmic accents have to be placed at certain points or specific key words have to be included in the lyrics. That was an exciting experience, especially to see the result blossom in the context of the show with the fantastic staging. And last but not least, we are very happy that my fans can hear the track with my voice!”

   

  Conchita in Eurovision

  Thomas Neuwirth (born 6 November 1988) is an Austrian singer, recording artist  who is known for his stage persona Conchita Wurst .

  In 2011, Neuwirth began appearing as Conchita—a female character noted for her beard—and came second in the Austrian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.

  Two years later, Conchita was selected by the Austrian broadcaster, ORF, to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, where her stunning performance of the song 'Rise like a Phoenix' topped the scoreboard with a total of  290 points, becoming one of the most highlighted victories in the contest's history.
