Victoria will perform “Growing Up Is Getting Old” for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.
This year Bulgaria decided to participate in Eurovision 2021 selecting last year's ESC representative, Victoria Georgieva. The young talented act, which was one of the bookies' favorite to win the 2021 contest, was set to choose this year's Eurovision entry out of one of the tracks included in her debut album titled "A little dramtic" .
The Bulgarian 2021 entry was chosen among six entries that came out of the process taken place within the framework of The Black Sea Eurovision Song Writing Camp. The Bulgarian Eurovision 2021 representative, Victoria, hosted the event and worked together with the composers and songwriters on potential Eurovision 2021 songs. The event unfolded over ten days at the Sea Casino, Radio Burgas and Forest Beach in Primorsko and feature several Eurovision acts attending the event like Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland 2020), Ben Dolic (Germany 2020) and Symphonix .
Once they were revealed Victoria made an open call to fans foe their feedback in order to come down to the one which will travel to Rotterdam with her. The six candidate entries were:
- “Imaginary Friend”
- “Growing Up Is Getting Old”
- “Dive into Unknown”
- “Phantom Pain”
- “The Funeral Song”
- “Ugly Cry”
The final decision was announced during this evening's concert , during which she performed the songs from her EP “a little dramatic” live for the first time and her biggest hits “Tears Getting Sober”, "Ugly Cry“, “I Wanna Know” and “Alright”.
VICTORIA presented her entry “Growing Up Is Getting Old” during the event with an emotional speech:
“It was a very difficult decision. I am glad that BNT, Ligna, and my team are totally united in our choice. Your feedback about the songs helped us a lot. The opinion of music and television experts from all over Europe helped us as well. Perhaps for me, choosing from my six songs was the hardest. Each of them is very special to me. But when we had to choose between the two songs with the most support from the viewers and the experts - "Imaginary Friend" and "Growing Up Is Getting Old", I knew which song I would sing with all my heart and soul on stage in Rotterdam.”
Thus Victoria will be singing "Growing Up Is Getting Old” a song which tells a story about becoming a better person by going back to your roots and to the place you feel safe. VICTORIA says that when she listens to the song, she thinks about the most important people in her life - her mother, her father, her sister, and her friends.
