Croatia: Mia Dimšić to fly the flag at Eurovision 2022

  • Mia Dimšić won the Croatian national final of Dora 2022 and will represent Croatia at Eurovision 2022 with the song "Guilty Pleasure".

    The national final took place in Opatija City and was hosted by the trio, Duško Ćurlić, Elizabeta Brodić and Franka Batelić. A total of 14 acts competed in the national final which were shortlisted out of 184 submissions by a jury consisting of representatives of HRT (Željko Mesar, Robert Urlić and Zlatko Turkalj), the Croatian Society of Composers (Aljoša Šerić) and the Croatian Music Union (Antonela Doko).

     

     

    The 14 acts that took  the stage this evening were the following in the specific running order:

    4. Jessa  –My Next Mistake

    7. Roko Vuckovic  – Malo Kasnije “
    8. Bernarda  –Here for Love “
    9. Eric Vidović  –I Found You “
    10. ToMa  – In The Darkness “
    11. Elis Lovric  – No War 
    12. Ella Orešković  – If You Walk Away “
    13. Tia  – Voli Me Do Neba “
    14. Mia Dimšić  – Guilty Pleasure “

     

    The Results

    The outcome of the national final was determined by a combination of public voting and regional jury voting, contributing 50% each to the result.

    The jury voting will include the points from 10 regional juries which came from: 

    • Zagreb
    • Čakovec and Varaždin
    • Rijeka
    • Pula
    • Osijek
    • Zadar
    • Knin and Šibenik
    • Split
    • Dubrovnik
    • Vukovar

    Mia Dimšić with her song “Guilty Pleasure” topped the score winning the right to represent Croatia at Eurovision 2022. Second behind came Marko Bošnjak while Mia Negovetić finished in 3rd place. For the record the winner topped both votings, jury and public voting. 

     

    A few words for Mia 

    Mia Dimšić  was born on 7 November 1992 in Osijek and is known professionally as Mia. She is a Croatian singer and songwriter who holds a MA degree in translation studies from the Faculty of Arts in Osijek.

    Dimšić started her career in 2014, when tamburitza band Džentlmeni invited her to accompany them during their USA and Canada tour for Croatian diaspora. "Budi mi blizu" was released on 12 October 2015 as Dimšić's first single. "Život nije siv" was released on 7 July 2016 as her debut's album lead single. Dimšić's debut album Život nije siv was released on 20 March 2017. Život nije siv peaked at number one on the Croatian Albums Chart. The album was eventually certified platinum in the country. Dimšić's second studio album and first Christmas record, Božićno jutro was released on 29 November 2017.

    On 26 July 2019, Dimšić released "Sva blaga ovog svijeta" with Croatian singer Marko Tolja, along with the music video. The song debuted at number twelve on the Croatian HR Top 40 chart and marks Dimšić's and Tolja's first collaboration. In August, "Sva blaga ovog svijeta" climbed to the number one position, making it Dimšić's sixth single to top the HR Top 40 chart as lead artist.

    She previously participated in Dora as a member of the Osijek jury in 2020 . She wrote  this year's Dora entry with her collaborators Vjekoslav Dimter and Damir Bačić .

    Mia will be performing in the second half of the first semi final of Eurovision 2022 on May 10 in Turin.
