Denmark: DR confirms Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022 hosts and venue

The Danish national broadcaster, DR, has revealed all the details regarding the hosts, venue and city of the next edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the show that will determine the national Eurovision 2022 hopeful.
Denmark will be selecting once again their Eurovision representative via the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix show, which next year is set to take place on March 5, 2022 at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning.
The show will be hosted for a second time by the duo Tina Müller and Martin Brygmann, who presented also last year's edition. The good news for the fans are that the national final show next year will see the return of a live audience. Due to the covid-19 restrictions the last two editions took place without any audience attending the event. Thus, the tickets for the show will go on sale for the fans on September 23, 2021.
The 2022 edition
Last month DR had released the rules and regulations of the 2022 edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, according to which the national final will see a total of 8 contestants compete for the right to represent Denmark at Eurovision 2022.
With the submission period open since August 27, the acts interested to take part in the national final must send in their songs by filling in the repsective form here the latest until Octorber 29, 2021.
Either a composer, lyricist or performing artist must be a Danish citizen or have a similar strengthconnection to Denmark. Composers and lyricists can contribute with multiple contributions.The song is performed in optional language at the Danish Melody Grand Prix 2022.
All songs that meet the competition criteria will be listened to by an editorial professional judging committee set up by DR. Once the competing songs are finalized, the DMGP entries will be released on dr.dk/grandprix few weeks before the competition.
Denmark in Eurovision
Denmark made it first appearance in the Eurovision family in 1957 and has been crowned winner three times: In 1963 with Grethe & Jorgen Ingmann and the song Dansevise, in 2000 with Olsen Brothers and their entry Fly on the wings of love and in 2013 with Emmelie de Forest and her song Only teardrops. The country apart from hosting the Contest each year after its victories , has hosted the special show tribute to the 50th Eurovision anniversary in 2005.
In 2018 Denmark was represent by Rasmussen who with Higher ground, finished in the 9th place of the Grand Final. In 2019 Leonora defended the Danish colors at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv with Love is forever, finishing 12th in the Grand Final.
In 2020 the duo Ben & Ten won Danish Melody Grand Prix 2020 and were off to rerpesent the nation with their song 'Yes". Unfortunately never had the chance to perform on Rotterdam Ahoy's Eurovision stage as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
This year the duo Fyr & Flamme won the national final with "Øve os på hinanden" - Denmark's first entry fully in Danish since 1997 - who represented the country in Rotterdam but failed to qualify for the final, finishing 11th in the second semi-final with 89 points.
