Estonia: Stefan wins Eesti Laul 2022 and books his ticket for Turin

  • Stefan is the big winner of Eesti Laul 2022 and will be representing Estonia at Eurovision 2021 with his song 'Hope'.

    The show was hosted by Maarja-Liis Ilus, Priit Loog and Jüri Pootsmann, while  Annely Peebo and Marko Matvere, who hosted Eurovision 2002 in Tallinn and Uku Suviste (Estonia 2021) featured as guests the show. 

    A total of ten acts that qualified from the two semi-final heats (five from each semi-final) will compete in the final show of Eesti Laul. 

    The 10 contestants appeared on stage in the following running order: 

     

    1. Elina Nechayeva – “Remedy”

     

    2. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab”

     

    3. Jaagup Tuisk – “Kui vaid”

     

    4. Elysa – “Fire”

     

    5 .Ott Lepland – “Aovalguses”

     

    6. Stig Rästa – “Interstellar”

     

    7. Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany – “What To Make Of This”

     

    8. Stefan – “Hope”

     

    9. Anna Sahlene – “Champion”

     

    10. Black Velvet – “Sandra”

     

    The results

    The show consisted of two rounds of voting. In the first round a combination of International jury and public voting (50% each)  determined the three qualifiers whol progressed to the Super final round. Those were: 

    • Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany – “What To Make Of This” – 2nd
    • Stefan – “Hope” – 1st
    • Elysa – “Fire” – 3rd

    In the second round public voting exclusively selected the final winner accroding to which Stefan came first and will be flying to Turin to represent Estonia. His song has been composed and penned by himeself and Karl-Ander Reismann. Second behind came Minimal Wind ft Elisabeth Tiffany while Elysa finished 3rd. 

     

    A few words for Stefan

    Stefan Airapetjan , aka Stefan was born on  24 December 1997. He is an Estonian singer of Armenian origin. He has taken part in the Estonian Eurovision selections in the past several times. 

    He participated in the Eesti Laul 2018 singing  in the competition with the band Vajé , where he won third place with the song "Laura (Walk with Me)". He also participated in the song contest Eesti Laul 2019 , where he took third place with the song "Without You", and Eesti Laul 2020 , where he took 7th place.

     In the spring of 2020, he participated in the program " The Singer in Mask ", which he won.
