Eurovision 2021: Live on tape performances in progress
-
The Eurovision 2021 competing countries are in full steam making their preparations for Rotterdam, among which the live on tape performance of their songs.
With the national selection season over and all 40 entries determined the delegations are moving on with their necessary preparations regarding their Eurovision participation.
According to EBU's plans for this year's contest, the 40 countries should make a pre recorded live on-tape performance of their entries that they must submit by late March in order to guarantee their participation in case the delegation is unable to travel to Rotterdam due to restrictions or a quarantine in their countries.
Each country has only three attempts over an hour given for the filming of the performance which is overseen by the EBU. The delegation can choose on of the three shootings filmed as the country's back up performance.
All the material fillmed from all cameras along with audio recordings from mics, are sent instantly to the EBU so that they cannot be altered in anyway. The performing act is filmed exactly as if the performance was live without any interruptions or breaks. However EBU has outlined that the live on tape performance can differ from the actual live performance planned for Rotterdam.
So far the countries that have completed their back up performance are:
- Austria (Vincent Bueno) – Vienna, Austria
- Belgium (Hooverphonic) – Brussels, Belgium
- Denmark (Fyr & Flamme) – Copenhagen, Denmark
- Estonia (Uku Suviste) – Tallinn, Estonia
- Germany (Jendrick) – Vilnius, Lithuania
- Lithuania (The Roop) – Vilnius, Lithuania
- North Macedonia (Vasil) – Belgrade, Serbia
- Norway (TIX) – Oslo, Norway
- Portugal (The Black Mamba) – Lisbon, Portugal
- Serbia (Hurricane) – Belgrade, Serbia
- Spain (Blas Cantό) – Madrid, Spain
- Sweden (Tusse) – Stockholm, Sweden
- Switzerland (Gjon's Tears) – Switzerland, Zurich
Greece, Cyprus and Moldova will be heading to Bulagria the next days to film their back up performances while Anxhela Peristeri will recored her live on tape performance on March 20. In all cases the delegations will hand in their live on tape performance by the end of March.
The 65th Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place on May 18, 20, and 22 in Rotterdam.
