Eurovision 2022: Stage design assigned to Atelier Francesca Montinaro

• Atelier Francesca Montinaro has announced that they have been assigned to design the stage for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Itay. 

  Through a post on their soncial media Atelier Francesca Montinaro has confimred that they will be designing the stage for the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. 

   

   About Francesca Montinaro

  She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1988 and soon began to achieve success for her visual creations. From the eighties onwards she collaborated with all the major Italian television networks, such as Rai , Mediaset , LA7 , All Music , taking care of the image of the most innovative broadcasts, from talk-shows to information. She taught at the IED in Rome and since 2010 she has been a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.

  She is widely known to the public for having innovated the concept of scenography in Italian television, having designed the scenes of the most important Italian television broadcasts. His scenic projects can be defined as real emotional places , as certainly was the "worn backdrop" of the stage of the Sanremo 2013 Festival which broke the custom of the glittering and "television" scene by exhibiting instead a torn, inspired backdrop to Alberto Burri . 

  Still from Montinaro, another emotional place is the immaterial filter of Come away with me for Fabio Fazio and Roberto Saviano on Rai 3 , the virgin forestde The Barbarian Invasions of Daria Bignardi , the task of Piazzapulita of Corrado Formigli on LA7 and the laboratory of the ugly duckling of Italy 1 . He chooses television as an immediate, democratic visual means and a millstone of human vanity, to create atmospheres that are above all visual suggestions. In the context of contemporary art, he works on the themes of manipulation and consent, creating interactive installations that do not represent an experience, but force the observer to live it. In 2011 he exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale - Italian Pavilion in Turin.

  In addition in 2019 she was behind the stage design of Saremo Festival 2019.

  It was a very demanding race in which we participated with enthusiasm and strong emotions. A race against time that kept us awake until the small hours. But it was worth it, because in the end #Rai chose us. We receive this assignment with honor and we will work to deliver to the whole of Italy a stage that shows the soul of the Italians to Europe and to the world.

  We would like to say a lot, tell more, but we cannot reveal any details. From now on, months of intense but beautiful work begin for us to get to the opening of this third Italian edition of Eurovision.

  The 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place on May 10,12 and 14 May 2022 in Turin, Italy. The event will be hosted at the Pala Alpitour Arena which in the past has hosted major events. PalaAlpitour which is the largest structure in the city of Turin, is capable of hosting (in the configuration with a side stage) up to 13,347 people. Structure height : 18 meters.  It opened its gates back in 2005 and has hosted several music concerts and sports events among which ice hockey tournaments during the 2006 Winter Olympics.
