Eurovision 2022: Cortina d’Ampezzo, Naples and Venice added to the postcard locations

Cortina d’Ampezzo, Naples and Venice are the latest locations added to the list of locations to feature the Eurovision 2022 postcards .
The Italian Eurovision 2022 host broadcaster, RAI, is in full steam making all the preparations for Eurovision 2022, which will take place the coming May in Turin.
Among others, one of the significant features of the contest, the Eurovision postcards, are underway also, with RAI visiting the locations that will be showcased in the postcard films.
Postcards are the small clips that are shown between the songs during the contest and helps us to know the performer of each country and showcase the local beauties of the host nation, but also to give the organizers the necessary time to prepare the stage for the next contestant.
In accordance to this year's slogan "Sound of beauty", RAI is filming postcards in several locations across Italy showcasing the country's natural beauty and most impressive lanscapes. So far the locations in which postcard filming has taken place are:
- Terni & the Marmore falls in Umbria
- Perugia
- Merano
- Cortina d’Ampezzo
- Naples
- Venice
Cortina d’Ampezzo is a town and comune in the heart of the southern (Dolomitic) Alps in the Province of Belluno, in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Situated on the Boite river, in an alpine valley, it is a summer and winter sport resort known for its skiing trails, scenery, accommodation, shops and après-ski scene, and for its jet set and Italian aristocratic crowd. The city is set to hos the winter Olympic games of 2026.
Naples is the regional capital of Campania and the third-largest city of Italy, after Rome and Milan, with a population of 967,069 within the city's administrative limits as of 2017. Its province-level municipality is the third-most populous metropolitan city in Italy with a population of 3,115,320 residents, and its metropolitan area stretches beyond the boundaries of the city wall for approximately 20 miles.Founded by Greeks in the first millennium BC, Naples is one of the oldest continuously inhabited urban areas in the world.
Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is built on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The islands are in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay lying between the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers (more exactly between the Brenta and the Sile). In 2020, 258,685 people resided in the Comune di Venezia, of whom around 55,000 live in the historical city of Venice (centro storico).
According to Eurofestivalnews.com reports the Royal Palace of Caserta, Burano (Venice), Procida (Naples), Castel del Monte in Puglia and the Scala dei Turchi in Sicily are some of the additional locations the viewers willl see in the ESC 2022 postcards.
In last year's Eurovision postcards the artists were visually presented in a tiny house in different locations around the Netherlands. With special digital techiques implemented the 39 acts didn't need to be present during the filming of the postcard, which is rather convenient with all the ongoing covid-19 restrictions.
The 66th edition of the contest is set to take place on May 10,12 and 14 at the Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
