Eurovision 2022: Italy's Diodato announced as First Semi-Final interval act

  • Diodato has been confirmed as the First semi-final interval act of upcoming Eurovision Song Contest on May 10, 2022 in Turin. 

    Two years after his victorious participation at Sanremo 2020 with the song 'Fai Rumore' and the right to represent Italy at the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest which sadly was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Diodato will be evenutally taking the Eurovision Stage. 

    His song may not have reached the Eurovision stage in Rotterdam for Eurovision 2020 but it topped the charts in Italy and  became one of the people's anthem during the pandemic, where we saw people in a lock down singing the song on their balconies and windows. 

    Diodato will niw have the honor to perform as the first semi-final interval act on May 10, 2022 his song 'Fai Rumore' on stage in Pala Olimipico. 

    Let's remember Diodato's live performance of 'Fai Rumore' at Arena di Verona for the special show "Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light" that took place instead of Eurovision 2020: 

     

    A few words for Diodato

    Diodato (born Antonio Diodato, 30 August 1981) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He has released two studio albums, E forse sono pazzo  and A ritrovar bellezza . In 2014 he participated in the Sanremo Music Festival and won the MTV Italian Music Awards for Best New Generation, The Deezer Band Of The Year Award and the Fabrizio de André Award. he won this year’s Sanremo festival on his thrid participation in the competion. Recently his latest song  “Che vita meravigliosa” ,which is the title of his latest album, contained in the soundtrack of the film "The goddess of luck" by Ferzan Ozpetek , received the David di Donatello Award. 

    The act even though he earned the right to represent Italy at Eurovision 2020, never had the chance to perform in Rotterdam as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 outbreak. Following the cancellation of his Eurovision 2020 journey he released two singles titled  "Un'altro estate" and "L' uomo dietro il campione"
