Eurovision 2022 - Live in Turin: Rehearsals Day Two

• Eurovision 2022 rehearsals progress to the second day  at Pala Olimpico with the second group of countries from Semi-final 1 taking the stage for their first rehearsal.

  The rest eight acts of the 2022 Eurovision First Semi-final will take the stage today. Namely, Portugal, Croatia, Denmark, Austria, Iceland, Greece, Norway and Armenia are making their first rehearsals.

   The rehearsal week is divided into two primary phases: From today and up to Tuesday 4/5 the first rehearsals of all competing countries into the two semi finals take place while from Wednesday 5/5 till Saturday 7/5 the second rehearsals of all delegates in both semi finals are held along with the first rehearsals of the Big-5 countries and the host nation. 

  The first phase is held without the presence of any audience and the the rehearsals material released only on TikTok and  eurovision.tv with photos and backstage content. 

  This is how today's rehearsals will unwind in Pala Olimpico: 

  • 10:00 – 10:30 Portugal: MARO “saudade, saudade”
  • 10:40 – 11:10 Croatia: Mia Dimsic “Guilty Pleasure”
  • 11:20 – 11:50 Denmark: REDDI “The Show”
  • 12:00 – 12:30 Austria: LUM!X feat. Pia Maria “Halo”

  Lunch break

  • 13:40 – 14:10 Iceland: Systur “Með hækkandi sól”
  • 14:20 – 14:50 Greece: Amanda Tenfjord “Die Together”
  • 15:00 – 15:30 Norway: Subwoolfer “Give That Wolf a Banana”

  Break

  1.Portugal: MARO -“saudade, saudade”

  The rehearsals open today with Maro from Portugal taking the staging to rehearse for the first time her song 'saudade saudade'. Maro made it to the Eurovision stage after winning the 56th edition of Festival da Canção. 

  Maro takes a place on the B stage right in front of the Green Room and delivers her song while her backing singer are in a circle shaped set up that fits the mood and the nostalgic tone of the song. The coilining color on the backdrop along with her sensational performance take the audience in a magical music voyage.

  2.Croatia: Mia Dimsic -“Guilty Pleasure”

  Second up for her first is Mia from Dimsic from Croatia. Dimšić started her career in 2014, when tamburitza band Džentlmeni invited her to accompany them during their USA and Canada tour for Croatian diaspora. Eight year after she secured her spot in Eurovision 2022 after winning the Croatian national final of 'Dora 2022' with her song "Guilty Pleasure".

  Mia takes the stage wearing a pink silky gown in frills, cropped in the left front part and longer down in the back. She's combined the gown with black military type boots. Two male and a female backing dancers fill up the space on stage in full lyrical motion throughout the song. Mia's gentle voice bring her audience in a traquil mood.

  3.Denmark: REDDI - “The Show”

  It's time for the female rock band of this year's ESC class, REDDI, to take their stage for the first rehearsal of 'The Show'. REDDI, consists of drummer Ihan Haydar, Siggy Savery, who sings and plays guitar, as well as the two Swedes Agnes Roslund on guitar and Ida Bergkvist on bass. The made it to the Eurovision stage after winning the Danish national final of 'Danks Melodi Grand Prix 2022'. 

  The three female acts take the stage dressed in stylish retro style suits, they are in the country of fashion afterall. Neon lights feature the backdrop while the keynote change marks a major impact on the audience. REDDI deliver a really dynamic performance showcasing that a female rock band can easily stand equaly in the field of music.

  4. Austria: LUM!X feat. Pia Maria - “Halo”

  Turn up the volume as next on stage come LUM!X with Pia Maria with their banger song 'Halo'. The Austrian national broadcaster, ORF, one again opted for an internal selection in order to determine the country's Eurovision representative. Out of the four candidates that remained in the selection process ORF came down to DJ LUMIX acccompanied by the vocalist Pia Maria. 

  The Austrian DJ and music producer and 18 year old singer/songwriter Pia Maria from Tyrol bring on stage an energetic performance. 

  A big size circle shaped neon light accouterment surrounds the two acts displaying colors of the Austrain flag and showcasing who is on the decks ruling for the next 3 minutes.  The song's beat along with the switchng colors of the spot light on the backdrop and the use of the fire effect create and explosive musical scenery as if we are in one of the  open air Dj Tjesto or David Guetta concert parties. Don't think anyone will be sitting during this hyper tempo performance!

  5.Iceland: Systur - “Með hækkandi sól”

  It's time for the Icelandic delegates , the sisters Sigríður, Elísabet and Elín Eyþórsdóttir aka Systur, to take to the stage their entry "Með Hækkandi Sól" which means 'with the rising sun' a song that totally fits this year's stage description 'The Sun Within'. Systur won their spot in Eurovision 2022 after wining the Icelandic national selection of Söngvakeppnin 2022.
  

  The three sisters appear on stage with retro stylish clothes inspired by the 60's and 70's vintage dress code. The backdrops is illuminated mostly in warm light colors with a touch of glitter while the sisters vocally showcase theιr oustanding harmonies and balanced vocal performance between them. A true family on stage even in music terms speaking!

  6.Greece: Amanda Tenfjord - “Die Together”

  Next up on staging for her first rehearsal is Amanda Georgiadis Tenfjord representing Greece. Greek- Norwegian singer born in Greece but since the age of 3 is based in Norway after her family moved to the north. Her father is Greek while her mother Norwegian. Amanda was internally selected by Greek broadcaster, ERT, to represent the country with the dynamic ballas 'Die Together'. 

  Amada appears on stage alone wearing a silver-white dress while the backdrop is dominated by a dark blue color while tunrned over chairs are left on the stage scattered. An echo effect is used on ther voice while the dramatic tone and Amanda's passionate expressions deliver the despreatness and pain after a devestating break up.

  7.Norway: Subwoolfer - “Give That Wolf a Banana”

  Following the emotional ballad of Greece,come Subwoolfer, with their song 'Give That Wolf a Banana'. Subwoolfer is a Norwegian pop duo the identities of the which are not known but they present themselves as Keith and Jim. After winning back in February the Norwagian national selection of 'Melodi Grand Prix' secured their spot in this year's contest. 

  The Norwegian duo take to the stage and present pretty much the same performance arrangement we saw in the national final. Keith and Jim are wearing black suits while their three backing dancers are in yellow suits. In addition, on the background on a higher level a DJ in an astronaut costume. 

  While yellow and mixed yellow-blue colors dominate dominate most of the stage during the song, the surround light culminates in a more orange smoky with a fire effect scenery.

  8. Armenia: Rosa Linn - “Snap”

  The second day of rehearsals close with the Armenian delegate, Rosa Linn, taking the stage to rehearse her song 'Snap'. The 21-year-old music artist, songwriter and producer from Vanadzor, was internally seelcted  by the Armenian broadcaster, APMTV, which returns to the contest after a year of absence. 

  Rosa is wearing white wide pants combined with an open shirt while inside a light brown t-shirt. The stage arrangement for Rosa's performance is really impressive. The whole set up resemble to a bedroom all in white with everything completely covered by white pieces that look like 'post-its'. In addition the rotation of the set via manpower make the whole staging even more impressive.
