Merano is a city and comune in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Generally best known for its spa resorts, it is located within a basin, surrounded by mountains standing up to 3,335 metres (10,942 feet) above sea level, at the entrance to the Passeier Valley and the Vinschgau.
In the past, the city has been a popular place of residence for several scientists, literary people, and artists, including Franz Kafka, Ezra Pound, Paul Lazarsfeld, and also Empress Elisabeth of Austria, who appreciated its mild climate.
In last year's Eurovision postcards the artists were visually presented in a tiny house in different locations around the Netherlands. With special digital techiques implemented the 39 acts didn't need to be present during the filming of the postcard, which is rather convenient with all the ongoing covid-19 restrictions.
The 66th edition of the contest is set to take place on May 10,12 and 14 at the Pala Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
