Eurovision 2022: Opening Ceremony to take place at the Palace of Venaria

The Opening Ceremony and Welcome reception for Eurovision 2022 will be taking place at the Palace of Venaria (Reggia di Venaria).
The Italian organisers and EBU are in full steam making the preparations for the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place this May in Turin, Italy,
The venue where the red carpet ceremony and Opening Ceremony will take place has been confirmed, with Venaria Palace been selected to house the event that opens officially the Eurovision week.
Reggia di Venaria Reale is a former royal residence and gardens located in Venaria Reale, near Turin in the Piedmont region in northern Italy. It is one of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, included in the UNESCO Heritage List in 1997. The palace complex is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, and is filled with decorations and artwork. It fell into disuse at the end of the 18th century. After the Napoleonic wars, it was used for military purposes until 1978, when its renovation begun, leading to the largest restoration project in European history. It opened to the public on October 13, 2007, and it has since become a major tourist attraction and exhibition space.
The Opening Ceremony and the Welcome reception are set for Sunday, May 8 and will be hosted byby Carolina By Domenico and Gabriele Corsi.
During the Opening Ceremony and carpet event the competing acts will wear on their best outfits and walk down the long carpet meeting and greeting the fans and the press media outlets. Also mini interviews of the acts will take place by the two hosts. A reception follows where the host broadcaster, RAI, the Mayor of Turin, Mr Stefano Lo Russo along with EBU will welcome the delegates of the 66th Eurovision Song Contest.
