Eurovision 2022: Semi-final allocation draw to take place at Palazzo Madama

  • The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 semi final allocation draw and the official Host Insignia Handover Ceremony  are scheduled to take place at Palazzo Madama on January 25, 2022. 

    According to the Italian newspaper 'La Stampa', the semi final allocation draw along with the Host Insignia Handover Ceremony  will be held in the historic building of Palazzo Madama

    Palazzo Madama  was the first Senate of the Kingdom of Italy, and takes its traditional name from the embellishments it received under two queens (madama) of the House of Savoy. In nowadays at the Palazzo Madama is located the Turin City Museum of Ancient Art. Despite its name, it shelters a large collection of paintings, statues, church ornaments, porcelain, and decorative art, mostly from the late Middle Ages to the 18th century.

    At Palazzo Madama the Mayor of Rotterdam will  take place the Host Insignia Handover Ceremony, during which the Mayor of Rotterdam ( the previous host city) will hand the keys of the organization to the new host city and the Mayor of Turin Mr. Stefano Lo Russo.

     

     

    The Allocation Draw

     

    Semi final voting draw

    The allocation draw will consist of two parts. During one part , the coutries that qualify directly in the final , the Big-5 (France, Germany, U.K, Spain and Italy) will find out in which semi final they will be voting. Also Italy will be the only country to get to know in which place it will appear during the Grand final.

     

    Semi final allocation draw – Pot distribution

    In the second part of the allocation draw, the 36 countries to compete in the 2 semi finals will find out in which semi final their entries will perform and with a second draw whether they will appear during the first or second half of the semi final . In order for the allocation draw to take place the 36 countries are distributed in different pots. This is to avoid block and neighbouring voting among countries that traitionally trend to vote each other. The pot distribution is yet to be determined. 

    The 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place at Pala Olimpico in Turin on May 10, 12 and 14, while the show will be a co-production of RAI and EBU.
