Eurovision 2023: Kalush Orchestra comment on Liverpool's selection as host city
Saturday, 08 October 2022
The winners of Eurovision 2022, Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine, have released a statement on Liverpool's selection as the next host city.
Things may not have worked out for Ukraine to host the next competition as the 2022 winners but Kalush Orchestra are satisfied with the outcome of the Eurovision 2023 host city bidding race that decalred Liverpool as the city that will be hosting the next contest in 2023.
The Ukrainian band released the following statement:
“We are very pleased that next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Liverpool … Though we haven’t had the privilege of visiting yet, the musical heritage of the city is known all over the world. Playing in the same place that The Beatles started out will be a moment we’ll never forget!
“Although we are sad that next year’s competition cannot take place in our homeland, we know that the people of Liverpool will be warm hosts and the organisers will be able to add a real Ukrainian flavour to Eurovision 2023 in this city.”
The 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place on May 9, 11 and 13, 2023 in Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena.
Loyal follower of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1987, I've made the competition one of the stories of my life. After attending as accredited press the event for 13 consecutive years along with the 2017-2024 JESC editions, I also enjoy the last three years sharing more Eurovision music through the Eurofans radio's project.
