Eurovision 2023: Pier Head confirmed as the Eurovision Village location

  • Pier Head in Liverpool is the confirmed location for the Eurovision Village of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. 

    Following the final decision that declared Liverpool the host city of the 67th Eurovision, plans concerning other side elements of the contest are progressively coming to light. 

    While the next contest is set to take place on May 9,11 and 13, 2023 at the M&S Bank Arena, the city of Liverpool has confirned in documents for the tender of security that Pier Head will be hosting the Eurovision Village, the meeting point for fans to enjoy concerts and other activities. 

     

    Eurovillage 2023

    Eurovision Village is the official ‘fan zone’ of the festival where various Eurovision artists present their music and fans come together. Everyone can enjoy, because this stage is free of charge. Live performances, competitions,  parties will all take place at this central Eurovision meeting point. In addition to all this visitors will be able to view the three live shows on big screens while stands demostrating the local food will be located at the same spot.

    Liverpol has opted for Pier Head as the Euro Village's location. The Pier Head (or George's Pier Head) is a riverside location in the city centre of Liverpool, England. It was part of the former Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was inscribed in 2004, but revoked in 2021.As well as a collection of landmark buildings, recreational open space, and a number of memorials, the Pier Head was (and for some traffic still is) the landing site for passenger ships travelling to and from the city.

    The spot is very close to the Eurovision 2023 venue, M&S Bank Arena, which will allow the fans to move in both locations without haveing to cover wide distances. 

    While the preparations for the next contest will be unfolding over the following weeks and months the  EBU and BBC will be shedding more lgiht on the set up of the whole event and the final locations of the side features of the contest. (Euroclub, press center, etc)
