Thursday, 14 January 2021

  • The first of the seven competing entries of the Finnish ESC 2021 national final is out, as Oskr releases his UMK 2021 entry "Lie"

With a total of seven acts participating in this year's Uden Musikiin Kilpailu (UMK) , the selection format through which Finland will determine their Eurovision act and entry, the first competing act released his entry.

Namely, Oskr aka Oskari Ruohonen  released his song "Lie", behind the composition and arrangement of which are Oskari Ruohonen, Joonas Angeria, David Pramik while the video direction is a work of  Heikki Slåen.  Lie talks about those important situations where you don’t dare to say what you really feel. Oskr says about his song:

"Unfortunately, it often happens that in important situations you do not dare to say how you feel, but what the other person wants to hear. Regardless of culture, almost every person can identify with this in a song. That's why it's in the right place and company at Eurovision"

    A few words for Oskr

Oskr aka Oskari Ruohonen is a singer-songwriter from Turku, whose rough-soft voice has been heard before in bands such as Yournalist and Traffic Island.

Oskr is a highly talented multi-instrumentalist who grew up in a musical family and has written, played and produced his songs both independently and with his brother, both in Finnish and English.

UMK is the first step in the artist's new career and a return to its roots as an English-speaking artist. Oskr names James Blake , Bon Iver and Jon Bellion as his musical inspirations for the new direction .
