Germany: National final "Germany 12 points" to take place on March 4

On March 4, Germany will decide their Eurovision 2022 representative through the national final show "Germany 12 points".
Germany joins the lists of countries that are determining their Eurovision 2022 hopefuls via a national selection. "Germany 12 points' will be the show that will select the German ESC 2022 act on March 4, in Berlin.
A total of 944 applications were received for this year's national selection. The German ESC expert jury is currently in the process of selecting the best acts. For the first time, ARD radio pop waves will contribute in the selection process. Among them are Antenne Brandenburg, BAYERN 3, Bremen Vier, hr3, MDR Jump, NDR 2, SR 1, SWR3 and WDR 2. The jury consists of music experts from these radio programs and Alexandra Wolfslast, the German Head of delegation .
Following the ESC expert jury's selection, the candidate acts will be presented from February 10 onwards. On Monday, February 28th an online voting will commence . From that day on, users can choose their favorites candidate presented in the online performances of the nine ARD pop waves.
On March 4 the show "Germany 12 points" will be broadcast with the candidate acts presenting on stage their songs with the audience having a last chance to cast its votes. The show will host Barbara Schöneberger. The final outcome and who will represent Germany in Turin will be determined by online, SMS and phone voting.
Germany in Eurovision
Germany is one of the Big-5 countries and qualifies directly to the Eurovision Grand final. The country has participated in every edition of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1956, with one year’s exception back in 1996. The country has won the competition twice, namely in 1982 and 2010.
In 2018 Germany placed 4th in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with Michael Schulte‘s You let me walk alone , while in 2019 the duo Sisters represented the country and finished second last in the 25th place of the grand final.
Ben Dolic was internally selected to represent Germany at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam with his entry Violent Thing. Unfortunately young act never had the chance to complete his Eurovision journey as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
This year Jendrick Sigwart defended the German colors in Rotterdam with his song 'I don't feel hate'. Jendrik finished 25th in the final, marking Germany's second in a row 2nd last placing, receiving only 3 points from the juries and zero points from the public voting.
