    A few words for Amanda

Amanda Georgiadi or Amanda Tenfjord, is a Greek- Norwegian singer born in Greece but since the age of 3 is based in Norway after her family moved to the north. Her father is Greek while her mother Norwegian. The young talented act has drawn the music scene's attention early with impressive single and notable collaborations with Askjell Solstrand (Sigrid, Aurora) and is considered as an uprising act in the Norwegian music scene.

The half greek 24-year-old singer from Norway began playing piano aged five, and from then it was almost destined in some capacity that she would live her life in music. The 24-year old’s confidence gives way to sing-a-long pop hooks, while her modesty grounds each song with a deep and resonant humanity.

While as a teenager she had started to write her own material and was even recording and releasing bits and bobs online for fun. In fact, up until very recently, Amanda Georgiadis was training to be a doctor since the age of 18. While studying medicine, she continued to write music and enter music contests, and it was for fun that she decided to sign up for a showcase festival in Trondheim, where she caught the eye of a record label and, just like that, she was signed.

However, while Amanda’s journey might seem serendipitous, her talent is not. Her debut EP, the aptly titled ‘First Impression’, offered a promising introduction to an artist with a clear, inherent sense of how to craft pop music.

Since then Amanda Georgiadis has released a second EP and received praise from all around the world both for her writing talent as well as her unique voice. her second EP included the single "Then I fell in love" which got massive acceptance remaining in the top 20 chart in Norway. In addition in 2020 her song "Trouble water" was incuded in Netflix's serial 'Spinning out'.

Recently she released her new single "Promises", in collaboration with one of the most remarkable artists in Scandinavia, Thomas Dybdahl. The song is included in the most important Spotify lists throughout Scandinavia and specifically in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

Greece trusts its ESC participation to another member of the Greek diaspora after this year Stefania's contributiion in Rotterdam. Judging by the top 10 result such choice combined with a good song will not come as a surprise at all.

    Greece in Eurovision

Greece made its first participation in the contest  in 1974 with Marinela. Since then the country has won one time the competition, in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her entry  My number one. Since 2004 and up to 2013 the country was one of the most successful countires in the contest, having achieved 9 times a top ten placing. In 2016 it experienced its first non qualifying results since the semi final were introduced, with Argo in Stockholm.

In 2019 ERT opted for an internal selection and selected Katerina Duska to represent the country with her entry Better Love, which eventually finished 21st in Tel Aviv.

In 2020 Stefania was internally selected to represent Greece in Eurovision 2020 with her song 'Supergi!rl'. Unfortunately the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic depriving the young talented act from her journey to Rotterdam.

Nevertheless, ERT continued with Stefania for the 2021 edition in Rotterdam where the young act competed in the second semi final with her song  'Last Dance' and after qualifying to the final achieved to finish in 10th place bringing Greece back in the top 10 for the first time since 2013.
