Greece: Stefania drops her song for Eurovision 2021,
Wednesday, 10 March 2021

  • Greece's Stefania has released her Eurovision 2021 entry, "Last Dance" along with its official music video.

Stefania's track for Rotterdam, "Last Dance",  was premiered this afternoon on ERTflix and from what one can listen depsit the title, this without doubt won't be the last dance to it.

    The Creative Team

The creative team behind the song sees Dimitris Kontopoulos, Arcade, Sharon Vaughn on the composition team, Fokas Evangelinos as the director for the song's staging , while Ilias Kokotos completes the Greek act's supportive team. The Greek delegation this year lies in the hands of Sofia Dranidou , Head of ERT's International relations department, with Dora Cheiraki ERT's communication manαger supervising the whole project.

Stefania is riding the 80's wave that has flooded the music scene internationally and takes us back to the dance floor with a mixture of 80's and early 90's sound but with a more fresh and contemporary approach. The song begins in a low tone and builds up progressively up to the chorus, while the 80's electro instrumentation elevates it. Stefania's vocals showcase once again how talaented she is despite her age and her overall appearcance shows how much she has matured since last year's ESC 2020 entry Supergi!l.

If Supergir!l was a kind of a stepping stone from Junior Eurovision Song Contest to the Senior's Eurovision this year's entry Last Dance is what a song should be all about in the contest.

    The Music Video

Along with the song has been released its official music video, which was filmed in Athens and directed by Kostas Karydis, who was the director also of Stefania's last year's ESC entry Superg!rl.

You can watch the music video of "Last Dance" on ERTflix's digital platform. The music video will be aired during ERT's evening's news along with a mini tribute to the whole creative team behind the song. At 21:00 CET the song premieres on Stefania's Youtube channel.

The video clip of "Last dance", attempts something really original. To comment in a fairy-tale way on everything we have been experiencing in recent months, reminding us that even the worst difficulties in life can always be overcome by hope. "Using elements from Greek mythology, such as Pegasus and Atlanta, given in a dreamy, but at the same time modern way", the central message of the song is highlighted, which is the phrase "Every end is always a new beginning". That is why it closes with "the light that always conquers the darkness", calling on all of us to remain optimistic and to have the belief that soon even the unprecedented ordeal that the whole planet is experiencing will be over.

    The Lyrics of "Last Dance"

My heart was born in red and gold
    Electrical and lyrical
I’ve never listened to the remedies
    But know forever’s no eternity
    Holding on beyond the night
For a shadow that feels right

If the dreams we made are made of fire
I will give a life just to live that dream again
If our heart’s are hanging on a wire
Let’s forget the world below and dance until the end

    Last dance
    Oh, last dance
    A rockin’ romance
    This ain’t our last dancе
    Last dance
    Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh
    Oh-woah-woah-ooh
    Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh-ooh

My heart was born in neon lights
    Floating in spacе like satellites
Looking for signs of life tonight
As we collide in black and white
    Holdin’ on beyond the night
For a shadow that feels right
Holdin’ on beyond the night to you

If the dreams we made are made of fire
I will give a life just to live that dream again

    Last dance
    Oh, last dance
    A rockin’ romance
    This ain’t our last dance
    Last dance
    Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh
    Oh-woah-woah-ooh
    This ain’t our last dance

Take a deeper breath before we touch
Running out of time, I used it up
I’ll only be fine when the morning comes

    Last dance
    Oh-oh
    A rockin’ romance
    This ain’t our last dance
    Last dance
