Greece: Stefania's backing dancers for Eurovision 2021 unveiled

  • The dancers that will accompany Stefania during her performance on the Eurovision stage next May in Rotterdam have been unveiled. 

    The Greek national broadcaster, ERT, decided this year to stick with its ESC 2020 hopeful and invited back Steafania for Eurovision 2021, where she'll be perofrming the song "Last Dance" . The creative team is pretty much the same as last year with  Dimitris Kontopoulos, Arcade, Sharon Vaughn on the composition team, the creative director for the visualization of the song is Fokas Evangelinos, while Ilias Kokotos completes the Greek act's supportive team.

    With the song already recorded  Stefania's team are in full steam making all the preparations for the entry regarding the cover album, the official music video how the performance of "Last Dance" will be unfold on Rotterdam Ahoy's Stage.

    Just two days before the Greek Eurovision 2021 hopeful posted on her insagram account a picture from the shootings for the cover of the "Last Dance". Stefania is back in Athens these days in order to complete all preparations. 

     

    The Staging

    With the staging being one of the most important issus for each ESC entry, the Greek Creative team has already started working and making rehearsal's on Stefania's choreography and staging of Last Dance. Fokas Evangelinos has already chosen the dancers that will accompany Stefania on stage presenting us an impressive performance of the song. To secure such result Fokas has picked some of the most skilled dancers which have their own experience on the ESC stage.

    Nikos Koukakis, Markos Giakoumoglou , Kostas Pavlopoulos and Giorgos Papadopoulos are Stefania's backing dancers that we will see on stage. Markos Giakoumoglou was on Demy's team in Eurovision 2017 while Giorgos Papadopoulos was one of the dancers for Greece in 2009 with Sakis Rouvas and in 2012 with Eleftheria Eleftheriou. Kostas Pavlopoulos was in Serhat's team for Eurovision 2019 whilst Nikos Koukakis was set to be with Stefania's performance of SUPERG!RL last year.

    All dancers have a wide experience in major musical, theatre and tv shows with demanding stagings, a guarantee that Stefania will have the best backing dancers for her staging. The rehearsals for Last Dance's are already underway with Fokas Evangelinos giving shape to what we wlll see next May in Rotterdam by Stefania. 

     

    The Music video

    The following days Stefania will be shooting the official music video of her ESC 2021 entry "Last Dance". While the final version of the song is reveiving is last touches, the Greek Hopeful will be making the shoooting of the music video under the guidance of Kostas Karydis, who was the director also of Stefania's last year's ESC entry Superg!rl. 

    Like each participating country according to EBU's instructions for this year's edition adjusted to the covid-19 circumstances, the Greek delegation will to shoot also the on-tape live performance of the song and hand it in by the end of March. 

     

    Greece in Eurovision

    Greece made its first participation in the contest  in 1974 with Marinela. Since then the country has won one time the competition, in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her entry  My number one. Since 2004 and up to 2013 the country was one of the most successful countires in the contest, having achieved 9 times a top ten placing. In 2016 it experienced its first non qualifying results since the semi final were introduced, with Argo in Stockholm.

    In 2019 ERT opted for an internal selection and selected Katerina Duska to represent the country with her entry Better Love, which eventually finished 21st in Tel Aviv.

    Last year Stefania was internally selected to represent Greece in Eurovision 2020 with her song 'Supergi!rl'. Unfortunately the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic depriving the the young talented act from perform in Rotterdam. ERT has revealed that it will be continuing with Stefania in next year's edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, giving to the young talented act the chance to complete her Eurovision journey in Rotterdam.
