Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2024 First Semi-final results

  • The first semi-final of the Icelandic natiional selection for Eurovision 2024 took place this evening determining the first two finalist of Söngvakeppnin 2024.

    For one more year Iceland is selecting their Eurovision hopeful through the selection formula of Söngvakeppnin 2024. However it's a year of ongoing discussions in Iceland around their Eurovision participation due to the conflict between Israel and Palaistine in Gaza. 

    The 1st semi-final was held in Truenorth Studio, in the capital city o f Reykjavik. Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir, Sigurður Þorri Gunnarsson and Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson is the trio hosting this year's show. 

    A total of five acts competed in the semi-final performing their entries in Icelandic. 

     

    1. Blankiflúr –  Sjá þig / Love You

     
     
    2. CeaseTone – Ró / Flow
     
     
     
    3.VÆB- Bíómynd / Movie Scene
     
     
     
    4. Sunny – Fiðrildi
     
     
     
    5. ANITA – Stingum af / Downfall
     

    Once the competing part was over the lines opened in order to determine which two acts will go through to the final. According to the results the two acts that qualified are: 

    VÆB- Bíómynd / Movie Scene
    ANITA – Stingum af / Downfall

    Two more qualifiers will come from next weeks 2nd semi-final with an additional wildcard qualifier to be selected by the jury once the two semifinals are completed. 

    The Icelandic selection continues next week, on February 24,  with the second semi-final and the last set of five acts to take the stage.
