Ireland: Brendan Murray and Rachel Goode premiere their entries for the "Eurosong 2022" selection

The first competing entries of the Irish national selection for Eurovision have been released, as Brendan Murray and Rachel Goode premiered their songs.
The first two entries that will be competing in the Irish national selection for Eurovision 2022, with the songs by Brenday Murray and Rachel Goode released during the radio show Ryan Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1.
For the next Eurovision RTE has opted for a televised national final in order to select the Irish ESC 2022 hopeful, marking the country's return to a national selection since 2015. From 320 submitted songs a special panel of experts shorlisted six acts that will compete for the right to represent Ireland.
The six contestants will compete in a special edition of The Late Late Show on February 4. The outcome of the Irish selection for Turin will be determined by public voting, a national jury and for the first time an international jury.
Two of the entries were released today with the rest four to be progressively released up to January 21. The first two acts and entries to take part are:
Rachel Goode – “I’m Loving Me”
Singer Rachel Goode hails from Ballinasloe Co. Galway, being classically trained she has a strong voice that can uniquely cross through various genres.She has a bachelor Music degree from DIT and a Masters in Opera Performance from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Rachel also has a keen love for fashion and has a certification in Personal Shopping and Fashion styling.
Since her beginnings Rachel has had a love for all genres of music but is most well known for her singing of Irish Folk, Country and Opera. Rachel is no stranger to the stage and has performed in most of the major venues throughout Ireland including the National Concert Hall and the Bord Gais Energy Theatre.Inspired by artists such as Patsy Cline, Mary Black, Enya, and many others, her artistry is broad and her love of singing has no bounds!
In May 2019 she won the Milford Haven Young Opera Singer of the Year award, and in June 2019 she won the Ian Stoutzker prize for most outstanding musician at RWCMD. She made her INO debut as the High Priestess in Verdi's Aida in 2018 and sang in Éna Brennan’s Rupture in the company’s acclaimed 20 Shots of Opera in 2020.
Rachel says: "When I am singing, I am in my own world, nothing else seems to matter in that moment and it's the best feeling ever".
Rachel's entry for the Irish selection, I'm Loving Me and has been composed by Joakim Övrenius, Thomas Karlsson, Johan Mauritzson, Anna Engh.
Brendan Murray – “Real Love”
Brendan Hugh Francis Murray (born 16 November 1996) is an Irish singer and former member of the Irish boy band HomeTown. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Dying to Try" but failed to qualify for the final. He then competed in The X Factor (UK) in 2018, finishing fifth.
In 2014, Murray became a member of the Irish boy band HomeTown, managed by Louis Walsh. The band achieved three chart successes in its home country, including the number one singles "Where I Belong" in 2014, and "Cry for Help" in 2015. Their debut album, HomeTown, was released in November 2015 and peaked at number four in Ireland. In December 2016, the band announced that it was going on an indefinite hiatus.
Since his Eurovision appearance followed by X-factor UK participation he has released several singles among which 'If I'm honest' (2019) 'Falling', 'Teardrops' (2020) and 'Here to Stay', 'Deep Fake' in 2021.
Brendan says: "The meaning behind Real Love is not realising what was right in front of you the whole time. You've ignored and put the thought of it to one side but then you come to that realization that you should have said what you felt a long time ago.You’ve convinced and made excuses for yourself when you really should have told that person how you really felt."
Brendan's entry for the Irish selection has been composed by Brendan himself along with Darrell Coyle.
