Israel: Adi Cohen parts ways with X-factor Israel

  • Adi Cohen is the latest act eliminated in last evening's episode of X-Factor Israel, the show that will determine the country's Eurovision 2022 hopeful and song. 

    Another episode came to an end tonight when the contestants this time were asked to perform a song by one of the judges of The X Factor. Each of the contestants tonight performed songs performed originally by the judges,  in order to convince the judges that he deserves to continue to the quarterfinals. 

    In this phase the judges give a score up to 10 points each and after summarizing the judges' score the audience will give his own score while for each contestant the audience can give up to 60 points. The two contestants who end in the last two places are up for elimination and the judges will decide which of them will proceed to the next stage and who will leave the competion. 

    This episode featured singer Harel Skaat , who served as a judge on the "Next Star" program and has represented Israel at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Milim". Harel was invited to express his views on the contestants' performances. 

    Before the judges' songs phase started, Sapir Saban was asked to complete the "Eurovision hits phase" because in the filming of the show previously she was positive of corona virus. Sapir chose to sing Rita's Eurovision 1986 preselection song "Shvil ha'bricha" (eng. The Escape trail) which came 4th in the national final . All judges votes in favor and therefore Sapir continued in the next phase. 

     

    With the show progressing to the judges' songs phase the acts that took the stage were: 

    Eli Huli - "Drop Drop" (Miri Mesika) : The judges awarded Eli 40 points - the crowd added another 47 points. A total of 87 points

    Adi Cohen -"Violence" (Aviv Geffen):The judges awarded Adi 30 points - the crowd added another 48 points. A total of 78 points

    Sapir Saban - "Boys, Return to Me"(Margol): The judges gave Sapir 40 points - the crowd added another 44 points. A total of 84 points

    Anna Stephanie - "Hello" (Blackfield - Aviv Geffen) : The judges gave Anna 40 points - the crowd added another 40 points. A total of 80 points

    Shahar Edwi - "I am fire" (Ran Danker): The judges gave Shahar 40 points - the crowd added an additional 39 points. A total of 79 points

     

    Based on the total points received Adi Cohen and Shahar Edwi were up for elimination. Miri, Margol and Aviv voted in favor of Shahar which led Adi Cohen out of the next stage of the show. 

     

    The next episode will air on Tuesday, January 11, at 8:15 PM  CET on Channel 13.
