Italy: Maneskin confirmed for Eurovision 2021; RAI releases the Sanremo 2021 vote breakdown

  • During the post Sanremo 2021 Festival press conference Maneskin were confirmed as Italy's Eurovision 2021 hopefuls and  the Italian broadcaster, RAI, unveiled the vote breakdown of last night's final. 

    Along with the official confirmation of Maneskin's Eurovision 2021 participation, RAI released this morning the breakdown of votes of last evening's Sanremo 2021 final.

    After the surprise victory of the 71st Sanremo Festival , the Måneskin confirmed their participation in the next Eurovision 2021 to be held in Rotterdam next May at the press conference .They had already confirmed it live on Instagram last night shortly after the victory, but the official announcement arrived this morning at the Press Conference

    From the overall review of the voting it's easy to see that the battle was mainly a case of two act, between  Måneskin and Francesca Michielin & Fedez. 

     

    First Round of Televoting

    The first round of televotes saw Francesca Michielin & Fedez first favored by the public vote with Maneskin coming second followed by Ermal Meta in third place.

    6. Willie Peyote – “Mai Dire Mai (La Locura)” – 5,86%

    9. Orietta Berti – “Quando Ti Sei Innamorato” – 4,05%

    Once the televotes were added to the overall ranking coming up from the previous four nights of the Festival the overall scoreboard saw again Francesca Michielin & Fedez topping the score , Maneskin in second place followed by Ermal Meta in third place.

    The three top acts went through a Superfinal round of voting in which the results was determined 34% by televoting, 33% by the press jury's votes and 33% by the demoscopic's jury verdict. In the superfinal round Maneskin topped the overall score with 40,68%,  being boosted by the televoting results which gave them 53,52% of the votes while the other two voting by the press jury and the demoscopic jury were close. Here is how the final voting turned out: 

    1. Måneskin – “Zitti e Buoni” – 40,68% (Demoscopica 32,97%, Sala Stampa 35,15%, Televoto 53,52%)
    2. Francesca Michielin e Fedez – “Chiamami Per Nome” – 30,48% (Demoscopica 33,13%, Sala Stampa 30,13%, Televoto 28,26%)
    3. Ermal Meta – Un Milione Di Cose Da Dirti” – 28,83% (Demoscopica 33,89%, Sala Stampa 34,70%, Televoto 18,21%)

    Thus , Maneskin will be representing Italy at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam on May 22, marking Italy's second rock entry for Eurovision after  Enrico Rugger's  ESC entry 1993, "Mistero"
