While LTV has received a record breaking number of submissions for Supernova 2022, the broadcaster hasn't yet confirmed the format based on which the national selection will unfold.

However, according to Eurovisiontv's ESC 2022 calender the Latvian national selection will see two shows, a semi final and the grand final show. With the semi final set for February 5 the Grand final show is scheduled for one week after on February 12, 2022.

LTV has received a total of 130 songs for the ESC 2022 national selection of Supernova, which marks a record number of submissions for the competition.

Agnese Strause-Kubliņa, the head of LTV's Children's, Youth and Entertainment Program has stated on the submissions:

"In terms of genre, this is definitely the richest year of" Supernova "! Songs in the style of pop, folk music, electronic music and even heavy rock have been submitted to the competition. "Among the applicants are also artists who have already represented Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest."

Until the end of this year, the entry of songs and performers in "Supernova 2022"  will be determined by the jury selected by LTV, assessing the song's structure - originality, arrangement, message, compliance with modern market trends, as well as abilities, personalities and past achievements in the industry, as well as the potential for future achievements.

The songs will be available for public review in January.
