Malta: Destiny Chukunyere to perform
Monday, 15 March 2021

  • Destiny Chukunyere, Malta's Eurovision 2021 hopeful has released her entry for Rotterdam titled  "Je me casse".

Last but not least, Destiny from Malta is closing the releases of entries for this year's Eurovision Song Contest dropping her own entry for Rotterdam next May,  "Je me casse".

Je me casse  is an uptempo song with a touch of Charleston vibe, that take the Maltese act a step further from the sounds of soul we have heard in her past songs. During the song we experience a number of switches from uptempo electro sound to a more pop rhythm while in the middle of the track an a cappella gospel phrase gives the touch of soul sound Destiny has got us familiar to.

“Je Me Casse” is a French slang phrase, meaning “to make a quick exit”.  The Maltese entry has been composed and written by  Malin Christin, Amanuel Dermont, Nicklas Eklund and Pete Barringer.

    A few words about Destiny

Destiny is a Maltese singer from Birkirkara, Malta. At Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, she brought the trophy home representing the country with the entry “Not My Soul”. In 2017, she took part in series 11 of Britain’s Got Talent and finished 6th in the Semi-Final and thus was eliminated. In 2019, Chukunyere appeared on the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 stage in Tel Aviv, Israel as Michela Pace’s backing vocalist for her song, “Chameleon”. The song qualified for the final, finishing in 14th place with 107 points. In February this year she won the X-factor Malta talent show as a contestant in the Girls category, mentored by Ira Losco.

The 18 year old act won on February 9 the X-factor Malta talent show and earned the right to represent the country in the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Destiny’s entry “All Of My Love” is written by the Symphonix International team, Bernarda Brunovic, Borislav Milanov, Sebastian Arman, Dag Lundberg, Joacim Persson and Cesar Sampson.
