Montenegro: RTCG opens the submission window for the Eurovision 2022 selection

  • Montenegro's national broadcaster, RTCG has opened the submission window for the country's Eurovision 2022 selection. 

    Montenegro's search for the entry that will represent the country in the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Turin has began, as RTCG has opened the submissions for songs. 

    The broadcaster has made an open call for songs  by songwriters, who can be of any nationality, but should not be released before October 1st. Each songwriter can submit up to two songs .

    Acts that amibition to repesent the country in Eurovision 2022 must have the Montenegrin citizenship, should be 16 years old on May 10, 2022 while the groups cannot be more than six people. All submissions must be sent in by December 10,2021

     

    The selection

    Once submissions finish a special committee will evaluate all entries on specific basis with a point system that can award up to 100 points to each song. Namely the criteria and the respective points are : 

    • Song – 50 points in stake
    • The Lyrics – 30 points in stake
    • Productional options the song has – 20 points in stake

    The entry that will receive the most points will be the one to represent the Balkan country at Eurovision 2022 in Turin, Italy. 

     

    Montengro in Eurovision

    Montenegro made its debut in the contest in 2007 as an independed country. It particpated until 2010 when it decided to withdraw due to financial reasons. In 2012 the country made its Eurovision comeback.

    In 2014 Sergej Ćetković and his song Moj svijet represented the country and achieved for the first time to qualify to the Grand final, ending in 19th place. One year later Knez with his entry Adio scored the country’s best result by finishing 13th in the Grand final. In 2017 Slavko Kalezić, finished 16th in the semi final with the song  Space. 

    In 2019  D Mol were crowned the winners of Montevizija 2019 , the country’s national final, and went on represeting Montenegro in Tel Aviv with their entry “Heaven”. Unfortunately for a fourth consecutive year the country didn’t make it to the final.
