Netherlands: S10 to fly the flag in Turin

-
The Dutch national broadcaster, AVROTROS, has announced that S10 will be the country's hopeful for Eurovision 2022 in Turin, Italy.
Things are moving fast this year and before 2021 reaches its end we already have our third Eurovision representative for the 66th edition of the contest.
Singer Stien den Hollander, better known by her stage name S10, has been internally selected to represent the Netherlands at the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Expressing her enthusiasm on her Eurovision participation she says:
"Music is everything to me. I hope my music can bring something to other people’s lives, simply because it has done so much for me. Which is why I could almost explode with joy at the idea that I’ll be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. In front of such a massive audience, being able to do something that’s such an honour while representing the Netherlands… I think it’s absolutely wonderful."
Eric van Stade, General Manager of AVROTROS, said on S10's selection:
"S10’s song displays guts and authenticity. While normally we don’t reveal anything at this stage beyond the artist’s name, this time I dare to make an exception. S10 remains true to herself and her unique style. This means that, having selected English-language entries for the last 11 years, we’re now sending a Dutch song to the Eurovision Song Contest. We’re sticking our necks out with this choice, which the selection committee is behind unanimously. It promises to be another very special edition for the Netherlands."
S10 will be the first performer in 12 years to represent the Netherlands with a Dutch-language entry, which will be released in a future date.

The Netherlands in Eurovision
The Netherlands has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut as one of the seven countries at the first contest in 1956, and has missed only four contests so far (1985, 1991, 1995 and 2002).
The Netherlands has won the contest four times, with Corry Brokken in 1957, Teddy Scholten in 1959, Lenny Kuhr in a four-way tie in 1969 and Teach-In in 1975, The country has achieved some remarkable results in the past finishing 4th with Sandra & Andres (1972), 3rd with Mouth & MacNeal (1974), 5th with Maggie MacNeal (1980), 5th with Marcha (1987) and fourth with Edsilia Rombley (1998). Its worst results were in 1958, 1962, 1963, 1968, when it finished last and in 2011 when ending up last in the semifinal.
Eurovision 2020 was set to take place in Rotterdam after Duncan Lawrence’s Eurovision 2019 victory in Tel Aviv, with Jeangu Macrooy set to perform 'Grow" for the country. However the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic and never had the chance to perform on home soil
This year Rotterdam made it happen with the host nation being represented by last year's hopeful, Jeangu Macrooy who sang 'Birth of a new age' which finished 23rd in the overall score with only 11 points.
